Radio Poll: If Obama was a Republican, Would You Vote for Him?

Heard this on the radio on my way into work this morning (950AM, Houston, TX), so I thought I'd share.
(It's a Conservative talk-show... just thought I'd mention that)

The question was posed to Democrats, and is simple:

If Barack Obama was a Republican, would you think that Republicans were mistaken to want him voted into office for a 2nd-term?

(All things being equal and him sitting in the White House with his current list of successes and failures. The economy exactly as it stands. Unemployment exactly as it stands. Healthcare exactly as it stands. Him having made good on some promises, and not-so-much on other promises. Etc, etc, etc... the only difference being that he's a Republican, and not a Democrat)

***This question is basically for the Left'side of our little community, and please feel free to vote anonymously, if you're even interested. This poll might flop, but I thought it was an interesting question***

Well, I can honestly and truthfully say I have reached a point where I vote for the candidate and not the party.  My voting record in the last few elections is proof of that.  So, if I had a vote, I would still vote Obama over Romney even if he was a Republican, providing....

My biggest issue with the Republican Platform is their stance on social issues - if I am honest with myself (and all of you), I could never vote in anyone into any office who wanted to keep gay marriage illegal or was not pro choice.  However, if the party leader disavowed those stances, then yes, I could vote for him or her.  (I don't understand the tax pledge, so I can't truthfully factor that in).

End of the day - my idea candidate would be one who thought for his/her self and not just what the party line dictates.  I guess that probably is impossible though.

yes: Barack Obama
no: Barack Obama

Those who THINK, will vote "no".

I beg to differ. In fact I've learned in my travels that, guess what, not everyone thinks alike !

I think Romney will continue to create a bigger gap between the very wealthy and the rest of the country. He and his elite cronies will get richer while they rest of us get poorer.
I think, so I vote no to Romney.

"Would you vote for the guy if everything was exactly the same except for the fact that he would be a republican?"  How is that not a yes or no question?

Yeah, depending on the question you can get a yes or no answer.

I think my answer was closer to 100 words than 1000.

I could have said "pin hole".

You're too smart to act this way. But, I guess it's true, "you become what you behold".

That was not a yes/no question

"You can't get answers in black and white from people who think."  Sure you can.  There are plenty of yes and no questions out there that don't deserve a 1000 word essay.

"Peep hole"..... oh boy....

I learned this when I was (3) years old...

Baa, baa, black sheep,
Have you any wool?
Yes, sir, yes, sir,
Three bags full;
One for the master,
And one for the dame,
And one for the little boy
Who lives down the lane.

I listen to the radio... I don't call in.

As for seeing the world through a tiny peep-hole... at least it's a peep-hole I can call my OWN, where I've developed my OWN opinions about what I read and hear.

Unlike the Left, who are fed their daily dose of Left'leaning media reports, and spout rhetoric and tow the party-line and evolve their thoughts, while calling everyone else a "flip flopper".

I've said it before... IMO, those on the Left (present company NOT included, for the most part) are SHEEP.

You see the world through such a small peep hole.
Because people on the radio didn't have any trouble with that idiotic question leads you to believe that the question was a good one. How many radio shows do you call el? This may shock you but most of the people who call radio shows aren't very smart or very well informed. They represent the bottom of the listening audience. If you ask an idiot an idiotic question it's likely they'll have an idiotic answer and they won't struggle much with it either.

I crack myself up sometimes!

Seriously, I thought it was a simple enough question, quite honestly.

The people on the radio this morning didn't seem to have any trouble answering it.

"...You cannot get answers in black and white from people who think...."

I beg to differ...

On November the 20th, YOU are going to be asked a simple "yes" / "no" (ie: black & white) question.

yes: Barack Obama
no: Barack Obama

Those who THINK, will vote "no".

Those who don't think... well, we all know where THAT bus goes.

"If he signed the Norquist Tax pledge and supported the current republican platform. Nope, not a chance."

DITTO!

"I have never voted straight democrat. I have voted for plenty of republican candidates but very few recently. I agree with Teko about the Norquist tax pledge - I would not vote for anyone who signed that. I think it is a fundamental breech of duty to sign any pledge other than the Pledge of Allegiance. Imagine if the democrats signed a pledge NEVER to cut any spending. That's how insane the Norquist pledge looks to me.

So, if Obama was who he is and stood for what he stands for and Mitt Romney was who he is etc but their political parties were reversed I would vote republican without a moment's hesitation."

O... M... G...

Forget it.

I can see that the question was little beyond some folks.

DISREGARD.

I would vote for the better of the two candidates as I always do, regardless of party.

Are you asking if Republicans would be mistaken to want to vote him in or if I would vote for him?

Ok, but away R and D and look at the record and how America is. Would you vote for a President who brought us higher prices in everything and a bad economy and poor job creation?

Based on the criteria provided, no.  I would not vote for him.

Having said that and considering where we stand as a nation today, I feel that any vote for either candidate is simply a vote against the other candidate.  I don't feel that either of these guys is "better" for the country as a whole.

As ridiculous as this sounds, I think Obama is more in tune as to what middle class America wants, but I don't think there is a clear plan on how to get there.  I've not seen it.  I've heard some things but I've watched contradictions.  (Working to make a stronger economy.  We're spending, spending, spending.  Borrowing, borrowing, borrowing.  Printing more money now than ever, further devaluing the dollar..... to me, that's a recipe for destruction.)

Romney has no plan to speak of.  He says he does.... I'm beginning to think that knowing what we have is safer than taking the quantum leap and voting where I normally would.

I would defend him against some liberal attacks but I doubt that I would even vote unless the Dems put up a Blue Dog, then I would consider voting for a Dem.

So No I would not vote for him. Assuming that Obamacare was not passed as no republican would pass that, but just looking at his foreign policy and economy record. He would not deserve a 2nd term. Just like Bush 1 didn't deserve a 2nd term.
