I wonder the same thing.  Part of me believes that the "news" sensationalizing everything violent might have something to do with it.  (Just me thinking out loud...)  Take a kid/person who is mentally ill, been brow beat their entire lives, told they wouldn't amount to much.... sooner or later you're going to get that person to snap.  When they do, they do something ugly and are on the national news.

We're a weird lot, the human species.

This particular situation with the knife could have been worse too.  Fortunately it wasn't and I hope everyone involved gets on to a speedy recovery both physically and psychologically.

When you break that limb make sure you have something to land on because gun does not equal death.

I heard that as horrific as this tragedy is all of the victims are expected to recover.

I'll go out on a limb here and state that had the perpetrator been armed with an automatic weapon there would have most likely been fatalities.

Normally if you hear a gun shot you go running, you don't hear anything from a knife.

It'll be interesting to get the whole story.  They've boosted the injured to 20, I believe.

I think the school board member who said, "But I'm glad it wasn't a shooter, because if it had been a shooter, there would have been fatalities." is either insane or delusional.  How many people are in the hospital, and how many are undergoing surgery now?

What a very insensitive statement....  I've been witness to a few stabbings.  I had a buddy who basically died from blood loss,  He flat lined 2 times, but they brought him back.  His life has changed forever.

Another buddy in the same incident got stabbed in a very sensitive spot and both of them got to endure abdominal surgeries.  One lost a kidney, both lost spleens, one an appendix.

I'll make sure to tell them how lucky they are.....
