The following video was included in an e-mail I received and I'd like to see what others think of it.

I appreciate your thinking that repubs aren't as bad.  I'd like to believe that beings I've been a registered republican for 26 years.  The fact remains the same though, we aren't getting much accomplished.

As for the jihadists.... I had this explained to me by a guy who was involved with a cvertain level of intelligence regarding military action and I'll see if I can explain it with some accuracy.  Even if a jihadist is not doing much, sitting idle so to speak and maybe just planning their next move..... their future in heaven awaits them.  Their 72 virgins etc lies in wait, and their ultimate goal is to become martyrs and then be awarded this great future in the arms of their god and 72 virgins.  If we have them detained, this prophecy still lives.... the potential is still there for all of these wonderful things to happen.

When we remove them from the equation, that ceases.  Like with bin Laden, his followers are equally as mad that their leader was killed as they are that he will not get to the next level so to speak because this was in our hands and not his.  So with Gitmo... if the bonafide real jihadists are there, their dream lives.  If some "Joe bag of Doughnuts" guy from the middle east, with no ill intentions is caught in the mix.... he has everything to gain by still being there.  He just has to hope and pray to his God that we will be able to discern his genuine beliefs over what we perceived as a thereat....  On the same token, for the bad jihadist.... his dream still lives.

Now, we have to discern who is who amongst these people.  The last thing we want to do is kill innocent people.

It is a political nightmare.... the most basic of human rights are in play here, and us being the humane sorts that we are, only want to hold the right people accountable.  The jihadists do not care.  They will blow anything up.  Any dead westerner, especially an American is a notch on the belt and one step closer to their god.... as good old Charlie Sheen would say..."Duh, winning!".

I agree that repubs are not doing what they should be doing I dont agree they are as bad .. I am not happy with any of them ILADVOCATE .Do you know they have a kill policy now on any Jiadhists . they should be interrogating and getting intelligence but this administration has a kill  policy..we need to have them to be able to ask questions I wondered why they killed Bin laden when they could have taken him alive ...They just captured the next guy down in Al Quada  in Pakistan why doesnt America ask for him to be sent to Gitmo for interrogation ? We need intelligence .

Margy, I agree with you that we are headed towards the perfect storm.  I will go on to say that republicans are just as guilty by setting the storm into play as the democrats are.  Our government has been conducting business the same way for decades.... the erosion has been coming on for decades.  The common ground with each administration for the last 4 decades is, we haven't changed the way we do things.  Republican... democrat.... it doesn't matter.  It is politics as usual in DC.  Until that changes, expect this all to get worse.  Not to be a fear monger myself, but regardless of whom the next president or maybe even 2 or 3 presidents is, it will get worse.

This blasted banking debacle has us in debt to communist China.... the people of China are traditionally among the most poor people on the globe, as we are in debt to them.  Worse than that, Merkel from Germany is speculating the the Euro is in jeopardy of legitimate on the world front. (If it isn't Merkel herself, one of Germany's big financial strategists.... heard this morning on the commute in)  Other countries have bought into our debt regarding the bogus mortgages and other bank book cooking.... it is far deeper than just us.  We are causing this world crunch....

I think terrorism is more of a concern right now vs. communism.  But I have to tell you, I think we are our own worst enemy concerning everything that is going on in our country. Nobody can see eye to eye on anything, even though we (both sides) understand that we need to address these issues... what we aren't agreeing on is how to get around to it.  To this, I say take a good look at the special interest groups.  (Take a good look at the Nat Gas initiative.... looks good on the outside but is killing us, the consumer and benefiting corporations with tax subsidies....)

I'd guess that before this gets better, the government here will take over the banks for a while.  They will have to rewrite how the banks conduct business, and just like with the auto bail outs, after time the banks will become privatized again.  Something has to change.  (I am a bit scared about this happening because I take a good look at Fannie and Freddie and see what shape they are in....on a good note, they too will have to be rewritten.)

We are far from over the hump kiddos, and one president or one administration ain't gonna fix it.  It will take numerous groups, administrations, presidents... all with the same focus to right the ship.  To that I say, good luck America.  We are going to need it.

I guess both left and right have their strengths and weaknesses, and both will always try to sell what they see as their good points, and their opponents will always try to exagerate their bad points.  lol

Just a theory.  I think my reasoning for that is just things I have heard some of the politicians say on the news, etc.  They always seem to talk about how they are tougher on "invaders", etc.  So just an impression.  Wouldn't be the the first time I was way way off base..lol

I'd just add that right now in my opinion the greatest threat to America as a whole is from terrorism more than communism which worldwide has greatly decreased since the break up of the Soviet Union. The problem was that some of the groups that later became the basis for Al Qaeda and the Taliban took an anti communist stance to gain support. With this support militarily and economically they obtained the power they have today (among other reasons). Some of the events of World War II lead to the cold war which lead to the situation in the mid east today which does not show any signs of stopping. There is a communist party in the U.S. that is allowed to run as long as it does not profess any form of revolution and they hardly receive any votes.
What concerns me more at this point is sleeper cells or individuals that will act as regards terrorism. I also believe that globalization is the wrong path. Companies should support the best of the American worker not be multi national corporate conglomerates.Additionally as to not allow the potential of other countries to have fundamentalism take hold, the United States should end the military support of any country or take part in any war that is for any other purpose than to stop a direct threat to our country. Historically and currently many of our allies in the middle east have proven to be the opposite.

I dont think thats the case at all (the republicans trying to use scare tactics to get people to vote for them)  I think people have seen things that they are strongly opposed to in terms of the direction the country is going.

Something that sort of hit home for me...a bit off topic, but ties in I think.

Your wartime Presidents are almost always reelected.  I think there is only 1 exception to that rule.  Why?  Fear.  When people are afraid, they turn to those they know vs. an unknown entity.  Complete and total human nature.

So to my way of thinking, this is sort of another bid for Republican election?  And I only say that because the right tend to portray themselves as stronger on protectionism when it comes to the US.  Only basing this on what I have heard them say.  So could it be that by making you afraid, or trying to make you afraid, they increase their odds?

Just thinking out loud here, not trying to discount anything that may be happening.

Okay had to think this one over. Firstly the book they referenced if researched further was more a work of propaganda rather than fact based. That doesn't mean at the time (the 1950's) communism was not a real threat but in the McCarthy era accusing people of people of being communists who weren't was a common scare tactic as well. I do agree certain concerns should be addressed. Some collages (a few I went to for a short time and then dropped out of) are extremely leftist and their curriculum is clearly biased. In general though universities as regards political leanings have become more right wing (in recent times).
As regards education in general I do remember growing up the focus on education on world history seemed to have replaced American history and this was of concern. Children should understand how government works and the history of our country and why it exists to begin with. As regards the internet sites like Youtube in their own words will only remove material by government order so that meant (as an example) they did not remove videos with instructions about terrorism until there was public protest but will allow the removal of any material mentioning democracy on the Chinese version of the site. As regards environmentalism I do agree there are extremists but there are also companies who own their own have made their products or offices more environmentally friendly and had more of a profit. Reform of any kind should be cooperative not forced on people. I do agree free speech should not be compromised. My main concern right now is political divisiveness from either side weakening efforts to achieve basic needs such as national security and economic stability.

okay well I may get roasted for my view but I believe it ...I think it is only a part of what is happening and I believe we are headed for the perfect storm ..watch it again haven't these things actually been happening ..I am right wing I wasn't always right wing until I saw the plan unfolding...I am so glad that America is finally opening its eyes and maybe we will be able to fight it...

Hey, I remember the days of REAL news, also.  Of course, the newscaster wasn't wearing a sexy low cut dress that barely covered, either boobs or her rear end, complete with 4" spike heels to take your mind off what they're really saying; in fact, the newscaster was usually a man, and talked in quite a monotone, so as not to inflict his feelings/opinion on the listener, but it was actually news; and you're right, if they didn't report it, it didn't happen....  AND, horror of horrors - we didn't get the news within seconds of when it happened, unless we were part of it, or it happened just as the news was coming on.  In those days, the newscasters "reported" the news, without dissecting it bit by bit, then analyzing it all and adding their own spin to it.

Absolutely the media and access to it has so much to do with it.  I remember the days of when you had the local news and national news on t.v. and then the news paper.  That was it and if they didn't report it, it didn't happen.  LOL

I also remember some of these news outlets actually telling the news, not so much on the bias.

Yes, I agree that the video obviously came from the right; like you said, people have been trying to discredit the Bible for eons, there have been gay people, probably forever; politicians have been crooked from the very beginning.  All of these things have been going on for years and morality is apparently taking a hike these days, but don't you think it "seems" so much worse, now because of our ability to have instant access to the news, and various sites, like youtube, MedHelp and others, along with the tendency for the media to dramatize everything in an effort to make it seem sensational so they can raise the ratings?

You're right about the Socialist programs being defended, in spite of being broke (or nearly so).  I've said before that I wonder if we'd skip right over Socialism and go straight to Communism; makes you think.

I agree that it would have been nice if the guy had pointed the finger at key people he was referring to. There was one name that popped into my head at the beginning of the video and stayed there throughout; I was hoping the guy would say.

Interesting, but obviously coming from the right side of the spectrum.  Ans interesting as this was, I would have been far more interesting if the gentleman would have named some individuals within this "party" that he is speaking of.

As for his guidelines, the only one I really thought anything about was "getting control of the teachers unions/associations and softening the cirriculum".  I think todays public school system is being broadcast from the far left.  That is obvious in our community.....

About discrediting the bible.... been going on for better than a thousand years, at least.  I don't have too big of an issue there.  There are more people so it is easy to say that it is happening more today.

The comment about getting key people into key positions within the media.... both sides have done that, and there is no lack of hot air coming from either side....  Maddow-Olbermann vs. Beck-Limbaugh....

Gay acceptance or however he put it.... I don't know if I can call being gay normal, but I can say that there have been gays for far longer than the bible has been around.  I have no problems with gays or anyone for that matter who does not interfere with the goings on in my life.  Normal?  What does that even mean?  Anyone can go ahead and pretend that it isn't there like we used too through the 70's or so, and what does that get you?

I do hear an awful lot of praising socialism and the likes lately.  Especially the last decade or so, some people will violently defend some of the socialist programs this country has.  We already cannot afford what we've got.  Most of the socialist programs are in dire straights, and yet we try to enhance these very programs.... allowing them to give more and more.  We don't know at what cost... we've got no clue, but we are damn sure ready to give give give.

Quite a pickle we are in.  I really wish this guy would have pointed the finger at a few members of this party though.  And a bit of proof....
