200th Anniversary of the War of 1812

Exactly 200 years ago the US declared war on Britain and...Canada (of course we weren't Canada then, but you STILL invaded us..lol).  Anyway, on behalf of all my fellow Canadians on this historic day, I want to apologize to all of you for burning down your White House..lol.  (yep, we Canucks did that).  Anyway, this is actually a fairly big deal here as it is considered a fight for Canada, and this being the 200th Anniversary we celebrate it as a victory (we were able to protect our territory and of course eventually became our own country).

The whole post was tongue in cheek...I found it humorous that Canada did not even actually exist at that point...we were 100% a British Colony, yet there was a big deal made out of the fact that we "protected our country".  There was no country.  I hope my post was taken as intended...it just tickled my funny bone.
