Men arrested for sexually abusing cows

HERKIMER, NY (WFSB) - Two men including one who worked as IT specialist at a Connecticut school were arrested for sexually abusing cows in New York, state police said.

Michael Jones, 35, of Illion, NY and Reid Fontaine, 31, of Connecticut, were charged Friday.

Troopers said the owner of a farm in Herkimer, NY, set up video surveillance in his barn in an attempt to determine why his cows appeared anxious and were not producing as usual.

The owner then contacted state police after the video revealed that the cows were being sexually abused, troopers said.

An investigation revealed that Jones agreed to record Fontaine as he attempted to have sexual contact with several of the animals.

Both men were arrested and charged with one count each of sexual misconduct, which is a misdemeanor. They were released on an appearance ticket.

Fontaine has worked as an IT network specialist for the Farmington Public Schools for the six months, according to a statement from Superintendent of Schools Kathleen C. Greider.

"The former employee did not provide instruction to students nor did he have responsibilities involving direct student contact. As IT Network Specialist, his job involved the maintenance of the district's technology infrastructure and hardware," Greider said.

Greider said the arrest of Fontaine was unrelated to the Farmington school district and on Sunday evening, he resigned from his position.

During his background checks, the schools discovered that Fontaine had no previous arrests.

The Farmington police were contacted by Greider about the arrest of Fontaine and asked them to investigate.

"The Board of Education and school district place student safety as our highest priority. Once we learned of the arrest of this individual, we took immediate and swift action," Greider said.

Statements by Greider were sent out to Farmington parents about Fontaine's arrest.

I don't even want to know how or why. In order for the cows to be acting "anxious and were not producing as usual". There is no telling how they were being abused.  There is some sick people in this world.

I don't know why I should care, but after reading this, I couldn't help but think, this is going to follow them for the rest of their lives. I see a South Park episode in the making.

I seriously doubt the cows felt violated in the least.

It was probably like throwing a hot dog down a hallway.
