For the last seventy years all you had to do was fill out Dod form 2535 and you would get a military presence.
Either you get a "demonstration" team or pilots that have to fly mandatory hours each month to maintain proficiency, so there is no "cost". They would be burning holes in the sky over nowhere.
The decision was made by a bureaucrat, in the way such animals make decisions.
This is a changing America...
This was the first I heard of it also, the article posted is not dated but yes evidently it has been denied a couple of times? Might be able to find it on snopes since they confirmed it.
When did this happen? I looked it up & see different dates going back to last July 09. This is the first I have heard of it. I take it that this is at least the 2nd or more time?

Times are a changing indeed....sigh
Sad times------Ditto,
I was told this day would come but I didn't think it would be in my lifetime.
As much as I hate to come to Obama’s defense (and you know I do), if this is filed away to use later against him later, my response will be, to little-to late.
Where was your voice when it happened?
The first thing that came to my mind in reading this is. Who is paying the bill for this flyover, and I can understand too that once the military gets involved in these kinds of things, while it be okay for a christian event, what about muslem religious events etc. Unfortunately we live in a time when, IMO, it is not so much that christians are being stifled, but can no longer be singled out in these kinds of things, due to the fact that so many other beliefs exist here. I honestly can see why this decision was made to not flyover from the Dept of Defense.
