I suppose rights arent taken away since they can bring their own bottled water to school.

We had a water purifier put in.  Super cheap to do.  Personally, I find bottled water expensive, so the purifier made more sense for me.

I also don't really see this as a violation of rights.  It was on a college campus right?  We need to remember that that generation is far more enviromentally conscious then our's, and I would bet the students were behind it.  Sorry, for whatever reason, I can't get the story up, so going by the headline and making assumptions based on that and other posts.

City water, here in Houston, tastes downright AWFUL.

I swear that the water has contributed to my ongoing medical issues (chronic kidney stones).

In all honesty, I think that tap-water triggered my kidney-stones and sort of "flipped the switch" in my metabolism, and the switch remains ON to this day.

Nope... it's bottled (or at least, filtered) water for me... PERIOD.

I live off spring and well water.  BBXX, I have seen a few stories they've done on water.  One I found interesting was that they took samples from a few big metropolitan areas and had it analyzed.  Some of them came back cleaner than bottled water.  They also posted that the cheapest grocery store brands tested higher than the majority of high priced bottled water,

Every week, I purchase (2) cases of bottled water.

Yes, the bottles will end up in a landfill.
Yes, the plastic is bad for the environment.
Yes, it's expensive.
Yes, I know I'm contributing to the global pollution problem.
No, I don't care.

Should I stop buying gallons of milk? Should I stop buying 2L bottles of soda? Should I stop buying yogurt? Should I stop buying Gatorade?

I'll let future generations deal with the issue... not my problem, sorry.

Well, it WAS.....however, after a HUGE lawsuit here in N.E. there is a company that actually does bottle the real stuff now, and its been looked into. But you are right...I had heard that also and that is the case for most bottled water.
You know whats funny....some of the very poor countries sell bottled water....I always wonder about that.....it surely must be loaded with more than just hair...ick

I think its more an issue with the plastic too, and do you all realize all bottled water is, is tap water put in a bottle and sold. LOL, yep, we been had!

I dontn like the idea of the plastic either, but I would rather purchase bottled spring water than drink that stuff they call town or city water. Did you ever see program they did on it? They took the safe drinking water from the tap in a city, after it was treated and such, and they found not only a bunch of other things, but human HAIR in it....Seriously....I just can not drink that now.

I don't see this so much as taking rights away, but more of an attempt to do the right thing for the environment.  Chances are, water is readily available on campus in different forms.  I can understand some people not trusting the public water source, but it is things like plastics or petroleum products that are helping contaminate the water as it is.

I try my best to not buy water... not necessarily because the plastic might end up in a land fill, but more for the fact that water is available everywhere, and most bottled water comes out of a tap anyhow.
