Thank you for the link Iladvocate you gave it for me with no barbed comments .
Thank you Ashelen for pointing out yet again ...I apologise to all I will do that I didnt think it needed a link everyone heard him say it in 2006 ..
The president once said, "America is the best country in the world, and I am going to change that." Every person on the presidential campaign trail makes tons of promises that they can't keep. I look back at all of the speeches, and the proof is right there. Every presidential hopeful has ideas of grandure, changing the world....
One of the biggest travesties is, the very same people who were holding GWB accountable for all that was wrong are nowhere to be found now. Problems this president is incurring doesn't seem to be a big deal to them. A lot of voters who wanted change are saying nothing now. They are neither bragging or complaining because they don't want to bring attention to themselves.
As far as the repubicans wanting to keep the tax breaks for the rich.... 6 of the top 10 richest legislators in this country are demo-lefties, and you can bet they don't want their money touched. You'll never hear that from a democrat, especially those 6 people. They want their money just like the rest of us. (Warren Buffet on the says he should pay more taxes, but pays himself out of capitol gains and can use that as a write off.....)
It's a mess, the whole thing. Party line affiliation is the problem. The third party considerations are growing, but the 2 major parties hold all of the chips. Until this changes, it will be politics as usual people. Neither a democrat nor a republican can solve this problem because of the fight from the other side. Party line affiliations and the people who vote party lines are the cause.
The rules have not changed -- there should a link provided with each new topic, and it must be a current event.
Yes this would be one source for that:

and one perspective on the national deficit history:

A statement like that is just like "read my lips no new taxes". I have not in recent times seen a president live up to all campaign promises and more importantly take some of the important ones back. I do have my concerns about the promise about government transparency being lived up to because I do want to know exactly why specific funding is allocated for the reasons it is and to have a full disclosure on all levels of corporate lobbies and special interest groups and whether they had any connection on any level to any politician they supported.
I think you're supposed to include a link and it has to be a current event? Maybe the rules have changed....
There's corruption in Washington..that's certainly not new news. Every politician who says he's different never is. That's kinda a given.
Believe it or not I have faith that we'll figure something out for our children. There may not be a solution now....but there are some darned smart people in America. I choose to have faith and hope!
Well, I think everyone of them thar politicians are singing the same song now dont you? I think the clashing comes from not being able to agree on what to do about it and how? As usual, Pubs wanna give them thar rich folks another cut and more tax breaks and wants us little middle class peons to pay for it with our Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security. While the dems want to tax them rich folks and let them carry it for awhile and leave medicare and the such alone....... hmmm what to do!
I am guessing you never paid into ss or medicare eh?
