New York Cracks Down

Yeah, he really did..lol. There are two security guards at the main gates there and I asked them how to go about getting on a tour. It took them a while to understand I was not American, so couldn't arrange it with my senator or representative, so the one told me I would have to arrange it through my King..lol. I will admit, it was funny, but not super uncommon. Many think we are still officially part of Britain, so I hear stuff like that fairly often while traveling. The stories I could tell you...lol.
Seriously, somebody at the White House told you that you'd have to work that out through your King? See.... This just goes to show you that you can have a level of intelligence equal to a 5 year old in a day care, and get a job working with the government.
Well, I did walk around the outside fence..lol. It was quite a site to see. Washington D.C. was an amazing city and I enjoyed my visit there tremendously.
I didn't tour Buckingham Palace. I would like to do that as well. London is another incredible city. I have friends living there now, so am going to return and stay longer I think. We have an open invitation. Visited lots of pubs though..lol.

Adgal..dont feel bad...I live here and have never seen the WH either. Truth be told I dont care if I ever do. lol Now, I have thought it would be wonderful to tour Buckingham Palace.
I don't know. I'm a bit worried about the anniversary, and for two reasons. These guys love to make a huge statement, and what better to show they are still organized then attacking New York on the anniversary. Also, they have promised retribution for the killing of Bin Laden.
Last I heard it was a "credible but unconfirmed terror threat" and the believed there were 3 people already in the US that were a large part of the threat.
My husband and I were talking about this yesterday, and he said "do you think their politicians and media are just trying to keep them afraid?" I think there is something to that. I have flown gazillions of times through US airports since 911, and threat alert always seems to be on high. I'll give you an example. When I took my trip to Washington, D.C. about 4 or 5 years ago now, Prime Minister Brown was there visiting President Bush. Terror alert was on high. First leg of my trip was normal...I flew Calgary to Minnesota if I remember correctly. But from Minnesota to D.C? No one was allowed to get out of their seats at all. Not even to go the bathroom. I thought that was crazy stuff. And yep, I was patted down, etc. Wonderful city, but boy the getting there was tough!
Also, naive little me wanted to do a White House tour so badly. I was told it would have had to be prearranged with my Senator. We don't have Senators (yep, I had told them I was Canadian) so I guess I was out of luck! I was so disappointed. Has the WH or their 'Homeland Security 'come out to warn us ..maybe I have missed it ...but you know some may not let a good crisis go to waste ,wasn't that what Emmanual said when he was at the WH last I heard it was just a rumor' it may have changed since then ....

Hmmm, it seems to me they would try to attack someplace besides New York since they know everyone is watching them for that. I also dont think they will do anything on the day of the anniversary...they know everyone is expecting it...
