Nuclear Arms Reduction?

It appears there is a pending treaty to greatly reduce nuclear arms:

However there are already senators stating that they will not vote for it and have concerns. What are people's thoughts?

I am all for the reduction of nuclear arms.  I don't understand why any country needs so many when just one or two can destroy entire countries and continents.  I do agree though....somehow it would have to be ensured that all countries comply.  UN inspectors perhaps?  Not sure what the answer is, but I would sure love to see it happen.

Yes I would agree that's a valid concern because of countries such as Iran and North Korea and Pakistan that either have acquired nuclear weapons or are in the process of and have been noted as supplying other countries, especially supporters of terrorism with radioactive material for nuclear weapons. Any nuclear non proliferation treaty cannot be ratified without all countries being compliant with it and these days that may not be realistic.

The thing that concerns me is whether all nations will truly abide by it.  I don't really know enough to comment on it, just my concern.

I don't know as much as I should regarding this.  I am for reducing nuclear arms but don't know much about the details......some of the article went over my head.
