If this country continues going down the path its on, our sons, daughters, grandchildren, etc, have less than a bright future ahead of them.
Abortion and contraception will be the absolute LEAST of our worries, when China comes knocking for us to tab out.
You and Romney agree about equal pay. That's a good thing!! The party platform doesn't include the personhood law.
I will second all the hopes and dreams you have your daughter. May all of our children have bright and wonderful futures!
"Well, what you are saying then is that you expect that your daughter will never be able to pay for her own birth control or have a job that provides her with insurance? "
I am happy that equal pay for women is a law. I pray and will lead my daughter in the path that will enable her the education and resources to find a job that will pay her enough to afford her own birth control but if that's not how it ends up, I pray that her job will cover her. If the personhood law passes her job will not cover regardless...
I can understand how people would not agree with this subject. I mean romney has how many alters thus far. When you think you know where he stands, he changes it without warning. So, one of his alters will fit in with the views of everyone! Stay tuned, it aint over till its over! rofl
Well, what you are saying then is that you expect that your daughter will never be able to pay for her own birth control or have a job that provides her with insurance?
They are speaking about CUTS to planned parenthood in terms of govt. money paying for abortions.
"Mrs. P. You believe there will be no birth control in America? Come on. You are fighting for the right of your granddaughters to have contraceptives? Let's not get too carried away. I don't want to use the word dramatic but am having a tough time coming up with anything else"
What do you call defunding planned parenthood?, repealing Affordable health care?. Romney has been blatant about that. They provide contraceptives. The blunt amendment gives your employer the right to choose whether they want to cover women with regards to reproductive issues. So even if you do have a job and have benefits your female issues may NOT be covered..You think that's ok? These are the things your ticket support. If they are elected that's what's going to happen.. You may think it's dramatic but I don't. The only contraceptive that will be left are condoms....
In this election I am IN the bag 100% . You want to argue with me regarding that mole I got on my arse as well?
All aboard! The Obama Express... You know you want to EL!!!!
"...Im not a democrat el, for starters..."
Yeah... pull the other one.
You're about as much of an Independent as I am a Democrat (which is ZERO%, in case that wasn't clear).
You may like to THINK of yourself as an Independent, but your views and comments and opinions say otherwise.
Go back and read your own comments, Teko. You're so far in the bag for the Democratic Party, it's not even funny.
Independent... that's awesome. The fact that you go to sleep at night thinking that, is quite funny.
You are a Democrat, just say it. There's nothing wrong with that. Say it... "I, Teko, am a DEMOCRAT".
You'll feel much better after you say it, I promise!
Mrs. P. You believe there will be no birth control in America? Come on. You are fighting for the right of your granddaughters to have contraceptives? Let's not get too carried away. I don't want to use the word dramatic but am having a tough time coming up with anything else.
I'm not saying this shouldn't be a huge issue to whomever it is a huge issue to. But this is part of what seperates the parties. I personally wish for more compromise on the issue.
So, on the left------- the right wants to outlaw any and all contraceptives for ALL women at ALL times and on the left, they want to serve contraceptives with the school lunch. (kidding)
Im not a democrat el, for starters, and like I said before, in many states Romney is losing by double digits to women for exactly the same reason. You didn't notice how he is walking it back? Even HE has noticed.
"...Least half the country feels the same way..."
Yes... the half that are DEMOCRATS.
The TIMING of this reeks. It's convenient to bring it up NOW, and make a HUGE, HUGE, HUGE deal about it, because it's voting time, and you're hoping to sway some "I" votes to the "D" column.
Teko... just as you question the TIMING of the voter-ID thing, I questions the TIMING of this.
The day after the election, this will be a non-issue, just like voter-ID's.
Keep in mind tho, I have several issues with the RR ticket, not just this one....And I am not alone. Least half the country feels the same way. But this subject for me and many like me? Is HUGE
I love how the downplaying of access to contraceptives, a woman's right to choose what is done with her body. To some it may not be that important but as a woman that has a daughter that hope to have granddaughters, I want them to be able to get birth control, I want them to have equal pay, I want them to have the right to choose.
It doesnt have anything to do with a one up. I for one am passionate enuff about this to go the extra mile in halting it.
Lots of good eggs here!! :>)
Well, you guys are voting for Obama. So, you'd say this regardless. This is election time and Democrats think they have a one up on the Republicans on this. That's why it is front and center a couple of weeks before the debate. I get it. I believe in market research . . . you go where you think you can win something. But none of this is new. For the Republican base, this is what it is. For those on the fence about who to vote for---- this is a battle. Can the left make a big enough deal out of this to distract from the economy?
It's "too risky", because you are a DEMOCRAT, and the characters in play are REPUBLICAN and don't suit your current needs.
And don't give me your "I'm an Independent" b/s. You are so far to the Left, if you were any further Left, your head would fly off.
This is being made a HUGE issue by Democrat women, because they have hopes it'll swing women voters towards the Democrat, nothing more.
This is just a convenient topic, to help you get BO back into office.
I don't think I'd have thought twice about the question had it not been for a recent heated thread. I was just trying to point out why maybe NG responded the way she did. I wasn't around much and didn't even see your thread to skip it yesterday---- I was just pointing out that sometimes it is hard to know what someone is getting at and to NG it might have felt like you look down on women that do vote for Republican candidates. I don't really think you do and you've been nice about my answers.
I just don't want a gang up on NG as I think she is good to have around. I had to stick up for my companion in Republicanhood! She's a good egg!!
Kum ba ya. Let's all be friends!!!
Yeah, somehow I'm not buyin it. Trust me. And if something happened to Romney, Ryan isn't VP anymore. Nope, too risky
Ryan's personal beliefs are not the party platform. He is running for VP and says publically that he accepts the party platform of abortion allowed for exceptions.
"There is a sentence in what mrs. p wrote that I ignored which said 'why would any woman vote for these guys'. "
I missed this. This is a plain question. There is nothing behind it. You answered that question and I accepted your answer. If you and NG feel like there was something behind it that is on the 2 of you. To me it was a legitimate question.
I never thought Romney was against women. I more thought he kinda doesnt think they are equal to men. I cannot base that on any one thing, but more how he is with the subject in general. I think his religion sways him in how he views women. OMG, did I just bring up the R word! I did! I did! I cannot believe I just did that!
Like I've said over and over, it's more than just abortion for me. It's equal pay, Ryan's scary *** Personhoood bill, no access to contraceptives, not to mention Romney thinks I'm a Bum and feels that I pay no taxes and I don't take personal responsibility and I feel entitled to food and healthcare....Meanwhile I'm getting burned and paying higher taxes than he is....
