Obama announces a halt to drilling operations at all 33 deep-water rigs in the Gulf of Mexico for 6 months or until a presidential commission completes its work. Some of the rigs are already drilling and will have to stop. Others were preparing to drill and will have to stop those preparations until the commission finishes.

I realize not everyone gets into or studies the bible, but my understanding of what it says is that the big one will be in the area of the straight of hormouth and it will be over the battle for oil. So for me and the way I believe, it is all for not anyways, the drilling that is. It also mentions how the oceans run red. Is that oil red or is my television settings off? Thinking out loud again! Sorry, not trying to be preaching. Just making an observation is all.

I saw he also halted drilling in the Arctic!  Yay!!!

I saw a stat and wish I could find it again to post it....only 5% of the worlds oil is in these ocean floors and the US consumes 20% of the worlds oil.  So offshore drilling is just opening the door to potential disasters like this one, and really does not even put a dent into solving the problem.
