Poll: Voters continue to blame Bush for country's economic woes more than Obama

http://leanforward.msnbc.com/_news/2012/09/14/13862845-poll-voters-continue-to-blame-bush-for-countrys-economic-woes-more-than-obama?lite

"Registered voters continue to place more blame on the Bush administration for the country's economic woes than President Obama, according to a new poll from CNN.

This election season, Republican pundits and politicians (Jeb Bush himself) have continously said Democrats and the Obama campaign should stop "blaming" the George W. Bush administration for the country's economic hardships, but year after year, the public continues to see things differently.

Although 44% of registered voters said they believe they are worse off financially today than they were four years ago, they overwhelmingly blamed Bush and Republicans for the country's economic challenges: 57% said Bush and Republicans are more to responsible for the lackluster economy compared to 35% who said the same of Obama and the Democrats, another 6% who said both parties and administrations shoulder the blame equally, and 2% that said neither.

These figures are on par with percentages found in previous CNN polls on this question.

The new poll also found that Americans continue to view the economy poorly: 68% of registered voters consider the country's economic situation poor, compared to 32% who said it was good. But, voters are optimistic that things will improve by next year: 67% said the economy will be somewhat or very good by next year, while 31% believe it will be poor or very poor next year."

No, we don't need to get amnesia and considering current circumstances, neither side is going to allow the other to forget anything.  Diversionary tactics.

And as far as going back to old policies.... Maybe I am the first to say this here, maybe not.... but, we really don't know what we are going to get from Romney.  (I brought this up to a friend who hated Romney when he had a more liberal stance on certain social issues.)  In his prior political experience, he was rather liberal.  Although he had some pretty conservative opinions, he was pretty liberal.  I don't think it matters much that the RNC propped this guy up.  (They think anyone is better than Obama and they were looking for someone electable.)

The RNC needs to come around a long way.  They are going too far right for me these days.

Excuses do get old. However, we need to not act like we have amnesia either imo. It is what it is and to not want to go back to those same policies I dont see as an excuse, more a realistic view.

I agree with you, it ends up being a diversionary tactic. Just get on with the real work.

Everyone has an excuse and its all old, regarding the economy and most other things.  Where we currently stand is a fine soup of about the last 5-6 administrations.

The blame placing is just an attempt to make their/your guy look better.  What's the use?  When things are stinking it up, how is blame placing any help?  Problem solving would help....

I believe the Social Issues is more of a deterrent  (for both parties) to try to take our focus off the Economy. If there were a Poll taken on what is the #1 thing that concerns Americans, The Economy would by far surpass everything else.
I feel it's time to stop the B.S. and acknowledge the fact that it is both of their (Bush and Obama) fault.
The question is, which of the 2 we have to choose from now is more capable of pulling us out? Choose Obama and continue to go down the same path or even worse? Roll the Dice on Romney and risk Crapping Out? I know I am sick of hearing all the Blame and Excuses from both. I have no confidence in either.

I always take issue with the way some of this stuff is worded. I voted for both of the Bushes. I have no problem with either of the men. With that said, we are suffering as a result of the policies implemented under that administration.Hind sight is always 20/20 as they say.  My issue is that I do not want to return to the policies that got us where we are today. It really is that simple for me. Romney has promised to take us back to just that. I think that what the American people are voicing is that same sentiment. The option to stay the course or go back is not much of a choice. The sad thing I see is that people will vote either against this president or for this president. Romney is simply the person sitting in the chair that may or may not get the results of that sentiment. Problem is that by going backward, we are going backward in a lots of way as they have made all these social issues part of their agenda. That is alot for the american people to swallow.
