Hey, I am with you on this. What is next? And listing people with depression is already being discussed. I think it is fair game that if you are going to go as far as to post peoples names who are legal permit holders, it is equally fair to post the "authors" name of the said list of permit holders.
It all lacks tact, but this is where we are today. Something that has been said around CE is, "whats good for the goose is good for the gander". I agree, tactful or tactless. Does it increase the paranoia... sure it does, but what was the original intent of posting permit holders names? To out them and make them and the people around them paranoid. Put it back on them and they cry foul.

Im all for posting sexual predators in the area. You would be amazed at how many there are, but there is a huge difference here. The sex predators have already broken the law and there fore public information is done to protect. This newspaper posting of all gun owners imo is lumping them in to being a dangerous bunch and I don't agree with that. Post those who have been involved in a crime with a gun if ya want to, that is fair. All this does is add to an already paranoid society imo. I don't want to know frankly, but would like to know those convicted in a crime. With that said, how many of the perpetrators of these crimes were actually registered to the owner? Are we going to print a list of all people who have seen a doctor for depression next. I see this as having a negative effect instead of a positive one. We want solutions, not more paranoia in our neighborhoods.

My thoughts exactly! I mean, we have a sex offender registry... someone went as far as to post gun owners and their addresses... why not post the addresses of who made the gun owner's information available.
Perhaps these people ought to engage in a bit of thought before they do something like this.... Turn about is fair play.
