Rep. Gingrey Lies about Health Care Polling

June 25, 2010 11:01 am ET by Matt Finkelstein

The GOP's push to "repeal and replace" the Affordable Care Act is an uphill battle, relying largely on the notion that the American people have rejected the landmark reform bill that passed in March.  Speaking on the House floor last night, Rep. Phil Gingrey (R-GA) asserted that "in all polls taken" Americans "overwhelmingly" oppose President Obama's plan.  In reality, however, public opinion is shifting in favor of the Affordable Care Act.  According to a new Gallup poll, 49 percent say that passage of the bill is a "good thing" versus 46 percent who say it's a "bad thing."

"Funding sources

Media Matters initially received "more than $2 million in donations from wealthy liberals" with ties to the Democratic party (including Peter Lewis of Progressive Insurance, Steve Bing, Marcy Carsey, Susie Tompkins Buell, Leo Hindrey, Gail Furman, and James Hormel) and "was developed with help from the newly formed Center for American Progress".[23][24][25] It also has received significant funding from Democracy Alliance (funded in large measure by George Soros), MoveOn.org, and the New Democrat Network.[25][26]"

Matt Finkelstein is a writer for Media Matters.  This website is closely aligned with George Soros and has an extreme left agenda.

As for myself, unless there is a reputable source of this, I shall consider this propaganda.
