Rioting in London

I would like to hear your thoughts on the rioting going on in London. Have they lost their minds or are they trying to start a peoples revolution?

If you ask me, rioters do it for the sake of rioting.  You get a couple of ticked off people (irrelevant whether it's for a valid reason or not), they kind of start things off, then the thugs jump into the fray.  They said on the news today that the people involved who were asked didn't even know the name of the guy shot.  And..the guy shot was known to the police for being a gang member I believe.  But true..legitimate or not, it sure isn't going to accomplish anything.  Just another example of people finding an excuse to act like idiots.

Now, gotta comment on the corporal punishment thing...time outs are sort of intended for kids who do the normal acting out stuff.  I have to admit, it works on my kid.  I am in the anti spanking camp, but do agree that in many cases, something more then a time out is needed.  I just personally wouldn't spank. But I also wouldn't put my son in time out if he was keying cars. You weren't by any chance reading the Child Behaviour Forum today were you? lol  There is quite the heated debate in there on this topic.

It's been my experience that if you don't mess with the cops, you tend not to find yourself shot.  I don't know the whole story, so I won't pretend to.  But the kicker here is, if the cop wrongfully shot this knuckle head.... what is all of this law breaking going to accomplish?  Ridiculous mob mentality at it's best.  Rodney King incident?  Remember that?  The people in that neck of the woods looted in their own neighborhoods, destroyed property in their own neighborhoods, injured people in their own neighborhoods..... yup... they sure taught those cops something, didn't they?

By the way, anyone remember the kid in Korea, who was keying cars and they brought him to justice?  They flogged his butt in the town square or something?  How come you haven't heard a damned peep from that kid?  Yeah, corporal punishment is bad... thank goodness for time outs though..... not that I am for kicking your kids butt, but time outs?  Really? Is that even close to any kind of behavior modification?  We tried it with our kids, and unfortunately we also spanked either kid once or twice.... (Neither kid remembers really being spanked, neither kid remembers time out either.) Time outs suck.... my moms time outs gave a guy a hot spot on the hind end to think about, and half a day to think about the garbage I tried to pull off.  5 minutes for a time out is redundant....  Just me I guess.

I agree..a bunch of hoodlums who found the "excuse" they were looking for with that police shooting incident.  More thugs and hoodlums get into the act and now they are just doing it cause they can.  Love the Prime Ministers speech, especially the part where he said "if you are old enough to engage in this type of activity, you are old enough to pay the penalty".  Hope they stick to it.  This type of behaviour is disgusting.

All seems very disorganized if they are trying to accomplish anything other than mayhem.

Minds lost... there's no 'revolution' here. It's a bunch of nameless thugs (youth) being hoodlums, period.

Bad apples acting badly.
