Most dangerous countries in the world.
Yeah, this is a professor. Someone whose assumedly been through higher learning herself and as a professor she should be able to say exactly what she means. I've got a sneaky suspicion she did just that.
As for foreigners not coming to America, you'd better give them a call and let them know too many are showing up. According to the President and his staff tourism is at an all time high (whitehouse.gov) There were 55 million foreign tourists in 2009 and 70 million in 2013. People are still flooding to this country despite "gun violence".
On average (according to NBC News) 238 people are killed a day in gun violence in America. There are over 318,000,000 people in America. That turns out to be a 1 in 1,336,000 chance of being shot. You're more likely to die from a firework mishap.... but don't let the truth stand in the way.
I guess the good news is, if they don't come they won't stay. there, I found the ray of sunshine.
If that's really what she meant, that's what she should have said. When you take the entire article into consideration, I think she meant exactly the way it was taken...
And just as upsetting, we have this: "Most concerning is Professor Kumar's active opposition of allowing the free exchange of ideas on campus. If something goes against her world view, it is wrong and simply can't exist."
This is not the first article I've read about this professor and each of them has been equally disturbing.
One of the most wonderful things about this country is that people are free to leave any time they want to... that includes her and I'm sure there are other brutal countries that would be glad to take her in. Only her radical ideas may not be tolerated the way they are here.
Um. I think what she said was unfortunate because now everyone is attacking her ignorant comparison instead of paying attention to the message she's trying to convey:
"The US has killed 1.3 million in Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan" which does indeed make us brutal never mind the attrocites of Gitmo.
We are seen as a very brutal country to others outside our borders and we have behaved brutally. I've met travelers who were afraid to come to our country because of the ammount of gun violence.
Please note, I am not defending this woman and deplore her stupid comparison but we need to look at the whole picture.
The US should indeed look at how our actions have made us a target.
Anti America, and she lives here? What's holding her back? The rights she has and enjoys here in America or a cushy job spreading her vitriol?
Perhaps this filth would be best used in another country where you would be beheaded for making such statements.
Unlike people she compares us too, she'll be allowed to stay and keep running her mouth, plus get paid for it.
This country is up for grabs.
When the US starts beheading innocent people publicly, I might take that statement seriously, until then I think she is just obnoxious and agree if you don't like it, go home.
Just... wow.
This woman needs to go back from whence she came.
So happy that prof salaries keep going up, tuition keeps going up, taxes keep going up, goods & services keep going up and my salary is proportionally going down (as i'm spending more $$$ for the same crap).
What a time we live in!
"I just find it rather disconcerting that publicly funded college in the U.S can be so vocal against the country that pays her salary..."
Lest I be attacked, let me rephrase that... she's allowed to be that vocal because she lives in the U.S and our military has fought and many have died for her right to do so, however, she really needs to take her disrespectful body back to where it came from. If she doesn't like it here, I'm sure there are plenty of other countries that are willing to take her in... problem is, she might not have the right to speak against the government and the people the way she does here.
I, for one, don't appreciate my tax dollars being spent on someone who hates my country like she does.
Sorry the tweets wouldn't copy/paste... I just find it rather disconcerting that publicly funded college in the U.S can be so vocal against the country that pays her salary...
