This is what happens when we take wild animals and try to keep them in capitivity and to do tricks. They are not meant for this, they are meant to be free in the ocean. But for most who are born already in places like these, they would not be able to survive in the wild. It's quite sad.
Just heard on the news that this whale had been kept isolated from the others because of his history. They feel this isolation could have contributed to this incident. They also said that all the whales were showing signs of stress earlier today. The whales were not following commands in the earlier show. They feel that Sea World will keep this whale as it is worth millions because it is one of the few breading males.
I'll take mine fricasseed, smeared with a heavy coating of John Boy and Billy Grillin Sauce.
I wonder if Whale taste like chicken?
I'm worried what will happen to this whale. I doubt it could ever be returned to the wild. Will they keep it and take care of it even though it's dangerous ?
I just heard about this as well. Experts are speculating that the whale was actually trying to play with the trainer as Mary said. It's such a tradgedy and I am so sorry for the trainer and his family. I also feel so sorry for these beautiful creatures kept in captivity and forced to perform for audiences..this isn't how they should have to live their lives. I guess thats a topic for another thread though....
I just heard on CNN that this is the 3rd time this whale has killed. They said this whale was not used in the actual shows because of this. They are saying that the whale might have just wanted attention and to play. That he probably didn't intend to hurt her, just rambunctious. Very sad.
My mom was just telling me about this and she heard on the news that this particular whale came from Europe quite a few years ago, after killing another trainer. Because of the money invested in the Whale and the money they make off the attraction, Sea World in Orlando bought the Whale.
I had not heard that news, but oh, how horrible. I wonder what will happen to the whale?? Surely they wouldn't expect other trainers to work with it?
Sometimes we all forget that a wild animal is just -- a wild animal; and as with ANY animal -- one never knows when they will "snap" and do something "out of character" --- how often do we even see this with humans??
