So ahhh, how would you feel about running for Prime Minister of Canada? Ok, so there is that little matter of you not actually being Canadian, but we are pretty easy going around here, we'll work it out...
Common sense..what a novelty that would be in politics.
Voter fraud is easy enough to commit as it stands. Having people vote from their computers would complicate things..... I agree that most of this stuff should be up to popular vote, but I bet we'd actually be surprised at how many/few actually get out and vote on important issues.
Part of that too is effectively filling the voters in on the issue. A lot of Americans do not want to form their own opinions, and that is complicated by the way bills are wrote these days. One minute you think you've done a wonderful thing with health care, and another system you depend on took a shot in the shorts..... it happens all of the time. (Nancy Pelosi...."well, you'll just have to vote for it to see what's in it". This was pertaining to the health care bill. Does everyone in here know where the funding is going to come from, what other things will be affected, and how it will/wont apply to each and every American?
Bottom line, the system is broken and a bunch of elected officials within the system are abusers of the system and use it to embetter themselves or their friends. Almost all politicians are hypocrits.... Bush..."No new taxes"....Christ, how many people bought that line of crap? Probably as many that bought "more transparency in government."
It's about getting elected. It's a status symbol for a lot of these people. It's also a pandering to ones ego....
Yes, actually what they are protesting is their own creation. lol Your right I forgot about that. Obama wanted single payor, so did we but the pubs throwed a hissy so this is what we got instead. Yes, I remember now!
Actually, If they had put the health care thing to a vote in the begining universal would have won ........according to the polls at the time.
Ah but you see that would be futile. Because it is a powerstruggle and has nothing to do with much else. Its a game to them. It is who will win, left or right and has nothing to do with us. We dont need to vote anymore, it goes to the highest bidder now.
If you left the issue of "Obamacare" up to a computer-vote by the public, it would go the way of the horse-and-buggy. Are you okay with that?
I mean, I'M okay with it going bye-bye, but if you think the public actually WANTS Obamacare in place, please pass some of that weed your smoking this way, cuz I want some!
I agree with your sentiment though... the government is completely and utterly ineffective. Right, left, center, I don't care which direction you lean. They are ALL a bunch of blow-hards.
