CNN)-Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann stepped all over Elvis Presley's blue suede shoes while stumping Tuesday, when she mistakenly wished "The King" a "Happy Birthday."

August 16 actually marks the 34th anniversary of Presley's death.

"Before we get started, let's all say 'Happy Birthday' to Elvis Presley today," Bachmann greeted event attendees at a "Join Team Bachmann" rally in Spartanburg, SC.

"We played you a little bit of Promise Land when we pulled up. You can't do better than Elvis Presley and we thought we would celebrate his birthday as we get started celebrating taking our country back to work."

But Presley's birthday is in January, so the tea party darling's well wishes are eight months too late.

I am sure if he did die that way, it would be terrible for his remaining loved ones to hear the jokes. Its actually not that uncommon for people to die of a heart attack on the potty.
Imagine how you would feel if you found your son or husband dead that way and it was all over the news and people making fun.

There are certain things a gentlemen should not discuss in front of the ladies, (or anyone for that matter) and one of those things is bodily functions.
My goodness, you are the third person today to mention such a thing today, and the other two were actually concerned about their health, but still.... What has happened to society.
I do believe we need to re-instate the classes they use to have years ago where we learn about proper behavior. hmmm, I think, MR. Glass, that you would be a difficult student, but you could learn if you put your mind to it.
