Texas judge warns of civil war if Obama is re-elected

Texas judge warns of civil war if Obama is re-elected
By Josh Levs, CNN
updated 8:58 AM EDT, Thu August 23, 2012

(CNN) -- An elected county judge in Texas is warning that the nation could descend into civil war if President Barack Obama is re-elected, and is calling for a trained, well-equipped force to battle the United Nations troops he says Obama would bring in.

The comments by Lubbock County Judge Tom Head, who oversees emergency planning efforts, were broadcast by CNN affiliate KJTV. He made similar remarks on radio station FOX Talk 950.

Saying that as the county's emergency management coordinator he has to "think about the very worst thing that can happen and prepare for that and hope and pray for the best," Head told radio host Jeff Klotzman that he believes "in this political climate and financial climate, what is the very worst thing that could happen right now? Obama gets back in the White House. No. God forbid."

Referring to unexplained "executive orders" and other documents that Obama and "his minions have filed," Head said, "regardless of whether the Republicans take over the Senate, which I hope they do, he is going to make the United States Congress and he's going to make the Constitution irrelevant. He's got his czars in place that don't answer to anybody."

Obama, Head said, will "try to give the sovereignty of the United States away to the United Nations. What do you think the public's going to do when that happens? We are talking civil unrest, civil disobedience, possibly, possibly civil war ... I'm not talking just talking riots here and there. I'm talking Lexington, Concord, take up arms, get rid of the dictator. OK, what do you think he is going to do when that happens? He is going to call in the U.N. troops, personnel carriers, tanks and whatever."

Head vowed to personally stand "in front of their personnel carriers and say, 'You're not coming in here.' And I've asked the sheriff. I said, 'Are you going to back me on this?' And he said, 'Yeah, I'm going to back you.' Well, I don't want a bunch of rookies back there who have no training and little equipment. I want seasoned veteran people who are trained that have got equipment. And even then, you know we may have two or three hundred deputies facing maybe a thousand U.N. troops. We may have to call out the militia."

Sheriff Kelly Rowe told KJTV there had been no conversation about such a civil war scenario. The two have discussed contingencies for emergency management, he said.

KJTV reported that the warning was linked to taxes. Head "indicates a tax increase is needed to shore up law enforcement to protect us," the station reported, adding that a tax increase is under consideration that "would largely benefit the district attorney and sheriff's offices. But the emphasis is more on salary competitiveness than doomsday scenarios."

Head made his controversial remarks Tuesday.

On Wednesday at a county commissioner meeting, he emphasized that his remarks were about "worst case scenario in my opinion," and added, "Do I think those are going to happen? Probably not."

County Commissioner Gilbert Flores told KJTV he was "ashamed" of Head's remarks, and told the judge, "I think you better plan to go fishing pretty soon."

Attorney Rod Hobson jokingly put up U.N. flags outside his Lubbock office, KJTV reported. "When I saw the story I thought, once again, Lubbock is going to be the laughingstock of the entire nation," said Hobson. "What makes it so sad is he is our elected county judge, who is in charge of a multi-million dollar budget. That is scary. It's like the light's on, but no one is home... I'd just like to think he's off his meds."

But video from the Wednesday meeting showed at least one citizen supporting him. "Judge Head, thank you, and God bless," one citizen said.

Head did not immediately respond to an e-mail or phone call to his office Thursday morning.

KJTV reported that an aide to Head said the judge will not be commenting for one or two days.

I didn't read anything above other than a Texas judge warned of civil war if Obama is re-elected.  If Obama is re-elected and there is no civil war, this judge needs to be tarred and feathered, flogged, drawn and quartered.... all at the same time.

The "rich" aren't unwilling to share the tax burden... they're unwilling to have their taxes increased again, and again, and again, and again.

If you came to me and said, "LMNO... will you accept a ONE TIME tax increase of 5%?"

I would say "Hell YES". As long as it's only ONCE, then that's fine.

What "rich people" are opposed to, is having the Democrats increase their taxes now. Then AGAIN in 12 months when you're running out of money. And AGAIN 12 months after that when you ran out of money again. And AGAIN 12 months after that because you ran out of money again.

Why is it on the "rich" to pay for the irresponsible spending habits of the gov't, again and again and again?

I'm completely in support of a tax increase on "the rich"... but you only get ONE. Then, leave me and my money alone.

Your lack of financial planning and financial responsibility, is not MY problem.

You said it very well-thank you.
I do believe both parties contribute to the divisiveness.

"Democrat voting base, and created an environment that's conducive to, racial, financial & social division. In doing so, he's basically turned a Dem vs Repub political battle, into an all out social war." There is some truth to that, but I really see it more as Obama reflecting what a lot of people in this country feel. When Obama speaks harshly about "the rich" he is referring to the greed, their unwillingness to share the tax burden. I don't see him as that separate from the society he seems to disdain. He is a politician and we never really know who they are, but when they make a stand we know if we can go with them or not.
We are divided as a country but I believe issues of religion, abortion, and gay rights are used to further divide us and divert us from the real issues of the crashing economy.

I'm not at all implying that the BO administration is responsible for "class warfare" on the whole. It was here before BO and his cronies, and will be here long after they're gone.

What I AM saying, is that the BO administration has perpetuated, garnered & groomed the countries Democrat voting base, and created an environment that's conducive to, racial, financial & social division. In doing so, he's basically turned a Dem vs Repub political battle, into an all out social war.

There's always been an "US vs THEM" attitude in this country, but doesn't it seem like there's a lot MORE of it these days?

Not blaming BO and his administration for all of it, don't take that away from what I've written. He's simply groomed & nurtured it, for his own benefit. Make no mistake, it's in the best interest of the politicians from both the RNC and GOP to keep the public at each others throats. Job security for them, and keeps our minds on fighting each other, instead of demanding better from them.

He's GROOMED the environment for this "warfare", he didn't create it originally. Just want to make my point clear.

How/when/who started divide and conquor. Who started "class warefare", I'm not saying, just saying.

desrt: You are right that the 1% are not the ones who are the large job creators but this whole 1% vs 99% is BS. Us vs them, what/where has that ever gotten us?

I honestly think that is exactly the plan.

I think party line is the entire problem. We need another way or a third party or something. No doubt a lot has gone into dividing us. Now all thats left is for someone to conquer us. Half of us would be on board already. Thanks Adgal. You make sense as usual.

This article is ridiculous.

A lot of people will be upset no matter which side wins. What will they actually do about it ? Act like sheep is my guess. A lot of baaaahhng and little action.

And just in case my comments may be taken as a put down of the US, I will explain why this is all so upsetting.  The US absolutely must remain the powerhouse it is.  When you look at who is waiting in the wings to take over that title it's really quite frightening.  The US has always symbolized freedom and what is right.  To see this kind of division weakens you as a country and no one wants that to ever happen.  I hope your two parties are able to come together and serve it's people so you can continue on being the strong country you are.

From what I watch on the news and from talking to Americans I know well (and what I see here to be honest) it sure does seem the US is very divided.  For sure Obama and the dems seem to be a part of that, but from my perspective it just seems that both parties really do have an equal part to play in that division.  I personally think that your two political parties are more interested in being in control then doing what is right for your average citizen.  One says black, the other immediately says white.  And they tout so much absolute garbage in what seems like an attempt to further divide people - and it's all about votes.

I guess it seems so clear and obvious to me what they are trying to do and both are very responsible.  They clearly use fear tactics to divide and then keep people apart.  It would be laughable if it wasn't so sad.  And even on here what I see is people pointing fingers at the other party, claiming they are worse. It really shouldn't matter which party is more responsible, just the fact that they both are should be the problem.  From where I'm sitting it seems like they are working hard to brainwash everyone, it really does.  I mean, this forum is a perfect example.  I haven't seen this much fighting here in a very long time, and it all seems to be about which party is worse.  It's too bad.

You've bought into the 'job creator' myth. Actually, the 99% include most small business owners.  The 1% invest their money overseas or wherever it profits them most. I could do my job out of the back of my pickup or even work in a barter economy if needs be.

I just want it on the record, that I never said that I agreed with Head's statement, nor do I support him in any way.

I simply alluded to the fact that the country is divided, in part, due to the current administrations direction. No, I didn't use the preceding words exactly, but that's what I alluded to. And I'll stand by my statement.

I'm not at all saying that the country wasn't divided before BO's administration, not in the least, but what I AM saying is that the country appears to be MORE divided now than ever before (as far as my memory serves anyway).

And why is his statement so far off? Look at what happned in LA from 4 white officers being aquited for the Rodney King beating. Could you not see something like that happen again because Obama was defeated?

Every dem says republicans are all for big business and big oil and big whatever. Republicans are not out to make the poor poorer, the middle class poor and the rich richer. That theory is insanity.
And that whole 99% and 1%, who drew that up...Dems to play class warefare. Who pays the most taxes...1%. What is the stat that 5% pay something like 80% of the taxes, be thankful for the 1%. Without them you have no job, we have no economy, we have no America.

And El is right if Obama loses it will be about how racist America is, the race card always gets played. When someone like Jindal runs for President watch and see how the media is going to kill him and the dems are going to kill him for his Indian (Country not Native) heritage. They will nto let up but it will not be called racist.

This is coming from a man who makes $50,000 a year not $50M

I really don't know what you are talking about when you say that Obama supports class war.
This concern that many people have about the great divide has little to do with Obama.  We have all watched the economy breaking down, we have all been worried about how we are going to manage. Do you really think Romney is going to support the way of life you work to maintain? His interests are with big business, not regular folk like us.
Wake up El, the problem is not Obama-it is the contempt the 1% have for the rest of us.

Unfortunately, I'm no better than most Democrats when it comes to pointing fingers in the other direction, Mike!

I calls it likes I sees it.

The Obama administration has firmly pitted blacks & minorities against the Conservative-Republican Right.

From the most current Democratic claim that Republicans are waging a "war on women", down to his comments regarding how the rich can afford higher taxes because they're rich and "you" aren't.

Who is he referring to when he says "you"? He's separating the have-not's from the have's. IE: class-warfare.

My comment stands... the Obama administration has perpetuated an environment of class warfare and division.

If Obama wins, Democrats will be happy
If Obama loses, somehow it'll be racism

"...might be the stupidest thing you've said...".

Please try and be a little more respectful when you address me directly, Mike. I extend respect to you, so please afford me the same courtesy. You lose credibility when you resort to groundless rudeness, or don't you know that?

That might be the stupidest thing you've said in say maybe a week or so.

You've got a sheriff saying:

{......Obama, Head said, will "try to give the sovereignty of the United States away to the United Nations. What do you think the public's going to do when that happens? We are talking civil unrest, civil disobedience, possibly, possibly civil war ... I'm not talking just talking riots here and there. I'm talking Lexington, Concord, take up arms, get rid of the dictator. OK, what do you think he is going to do when that happens? He is going to call in the U.N. troops, personnel carriers, tanks and whatever.".....}

And you blame Obama and mention some insipid notion of class warfare, This goes so far beyond that el that I don't know how even you could have missed it.

Why not call this guy dangerously crazy and deranged and leave Obama out of it?

You really do disappoint me. I thought you were better than this - I really hoped so anyway.
