I have a friend that was working Narcotics (undercover). They were making a bust on a house that had Video Cameras. The guy saw them coming and shot my friend in the leg when they came through the door. The judge through out the case, Needless to say, they don't do that anymore.
Honestly, I believe these folks should be in uniform. It makes it a lot easier to know who you are dealing with.
I agree that the boss calls the shots on what employees have to wear... I had to wear a uniform when I worked and I didn't get to go barefoot or wear flip flops/sandals or high heels, even though all are standard FL dress...
Just think how much more appreciative and comfortable they'll be when they get off work and get to don the blue jeans, cowboy hats and boots for their off duty affairs, just like the Hawaiian deputies get to don their Hawaiian shirts. I sure was when I got to wear "street clothes" that included my favorite jeans or high heels, or to work in the yard barefooted.
Okay, you got me there, the deputies wear an official deputy shirt. But for all kinds of formal occasions, Hawaiians wear Hawaii shirts.
I seriously doubt any Sheriffs Department in Hawaii, allows their Deputy Sheriffs to wear “Hawaiian Shirts” on duty.
Sheriff Deputies work for the Sheriff. Just like any business, the Boss calls the shots. If you don’t like his Policies, you can always look for another job.
This is like telling Hawaiians they can't wear Hawaii shirts.
No dress code is my vote !
