So glad you are safe and well.
Much of my family is dealing with flooding and loss of power, but we are in New England, so its nothing major...

I'm so glad to hear you and your family are safe and sound.  How frightening it must have been.  I have been watching, and although not a situation to be taken lightly, it does seem it wasn't as bad as it could have been.  I'm glad for that, but so sad for those who lost their lives.  It did seem all the potentially impacted areas were very well organized and the right steps taken.  They did a good job it seems.

Yes at this point the power is still on where I live although it went out in nearby areas for many people. My family is safe as well. I do know from what I am reading that many people who were live in the path of the hurricane were affected and it took some lives. I would hope that appropriate steps are taken to provide disaster relief to anyone who was affected including if they had severe property damage. I do think the right steps were taken by the city to prepare for this though and it kept people out of harms' way.

Thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I understand the storm has downgraded and that can fool people. Lots and lots of water in this storm. Please stay safe.

Yes thanks for posting those links. I read this as well:

Right now because of the hurricane my grandma who lives in an area that was evacuated (outside of New York City but nearby) was picked up by my mom and is staying in her house
We have some friends of the family who could assist me if I needed the help but they dont' live directly in N.Y.C. either. I would be physically unsafe if the power grid went down although I dont live in that specific area mentioned but am in N.Y.C. I did stock up on canned food and other needs yesterday. As I can't speak on a phone physically I'd be unsafe if the power went because my tty wouldn't work. However the laptop that I use as a text to speech device also has internet access and a rechargable battery so I would only use it if that happened if I directly needed to. Best I can say if anyone is in a position of need they should call the appropriate place and follow up before the hurricane hits. I am glad my family works together to help each other and at this time of an emergency people affected in N.Y.C. and anywhere else should as well.
