I have to agree. Just the amount kind of proves that....very very unnecessary and sad. They will get rish on that...is that the answer? That make things better? What kind of message are they to the child? That the school did something wrong...and that they should pay in gobs of money. Terrible message.
Get the girl as much professional help as she needs. Focus on that....contacting professional, not lawyers. Children are resiliant...these kids are going to carry this with them, no doubt, but with the right help, they'll be okay.
With a lawsuit generating national attention to rehash the tragedy over and over again? Not so helpful for the girl. Shame on them.
I kind of feel the same way as R Glass, yep I sure do! You would think they would be so darn grateful and so full of compassion for those who did lose children, wouldn't you? Or how about them leading the pack for some changes, that would be noble, but money is on their brain? Yeah, sort of off kilter I think.
You sure don't mince words Glass. But a little more gently I say I agree with you.
"...but I can't judge the actions of these parents..."
I will, they’re Disgusting Human Parasites that are cashing in on their Daughter’s tragedy.
You know, I could almost understand if it was a parent of a child who didn't make it. I could understand their search for something, anything at this point in time. But this family at least has their child to have and hold. Absolutely there will be a lot to deal with in the future, but you can deal with it as a family.
I don't know. Just seems pitiful to me.... Even the idea of suing the school or school district is awful. I don't know.... I'm lost on this.
This lawsuit is from a family whose child survived...can you imagine what this is doing to the parents of the children who were not so fortunate?
Yep! Sooooo disrespectful!
On a side note...did you see the coverage on the leeches setting up fake websites to take donations for the families? Donations going right into their own pockets - not even connected to the victims.
I saw that...there will always be someone ready to take advantage of people in situations like this...makes me sick. Hope they rot in hell.
Those are the true dredges of society. They pop up around every tragedy and anyone who would try to monopolize off of this is a sick ####!
Honestly, I don't think the lawsuit will do anything to help at all. It's just someone trying to personally benefit from a horrific horrific situation. And it makes me ill. This lawsuit is from a family whose child survived...can you imagine what this is doing to the parents of the children who were not so fortunate?
On a side note...did you see the coverage on the leeches setting up fake websites to take donations for the families? Donations going right into their own pockets - not even connected to the victims.
Just horrible.
"They and their childrens lives are changed forever"..... No doubting that, but is $100 million going to cure it? And how the hell did they come up with this arbitrary number?
I don't want to judge these parents behavior but I will say this.... no amount of money would buy off the loss of either of my children. There is not an amount of money that I'd offer my children's lives for.... not for sale and there is no replacing a child.
"The principal and school counselor and teachers lost their lives trying to save and protect these children. And the pa system being on let other teachers in the building know what was going on---- shooter still there, don't come out!!"
Absolutely agree!...
This is so sad...but I can't judge the actions of these parents...They and their children are forever changed by what happened...
I just don't get what a lawsuit is going to bring about. I feel so, so sorry for those kids that went through this. I wish I could carry their grief. I just don't know how "money" is going to make anything better.....
Lawyers are always fun to listen to in situations like this. This guy (lawyer) has nothing to lose and everything to gain. If he were doing this pro bono, I wouldn't feel even a little better about this....
Oh, I MUST be fired up, I got censored! s*uck*ed up
Oh my gosh. I feel so bad for these families and then they go and ruin it like this by going the legal route. Good lord. The principal and school counselor and teachers lost their lives trying to save and protect these children. And the pa system being on let other teachers in the building know what was going on---- shooter still there, don't come out!! I think this is really awful and ***** up a little of my empathy I had for the town.
This lawsuit is about the child in question hearing the violence on the PA system:
Pinksy's client, whom he calls "Jill Doe" in the claim, sustained "emotional and psychological trauma and injury" on Dec. 14 after gunman Adam Lanza forced his way into Sandy Hook Elementary School and gunned down 20 children and six adults inside in one of the deadliest school shootings in U.S. history.
The child heard "conversations, gunfire and screaming" over Sandy Hook's intercom after someone in the office apparently switched on the system, according to the claim. Pinsky said Saturday he didn't know whether his client saw anyone die.
That is precisely what saved so many lives, as MOST of the classrooms had time to put their rooms on lockdown after hearing the disturbing scene overhead. Yes, it's terribly unfortunate that children had to witness ANY part of this...but the very act of someone activating the PA system saved lives.
I HATE that we live in such a litigious society...this is just ridiculous, IMO. All this does is add insult to injury. That school had emergency protocols in place like every other school in this country does. They praticed with drills that the principal even bragged out on Twitter. They were as prepared as any school in the country is.
This is disgusting.
