By: CNN Political Unit

(CNN) - Real estate mogul and television celebrity Donald Trump, who generated a media publicity blitz by saying he might run for president in 2012, announced Monday that he will instead remain a businessman.

"After considerable deliberation and reflection, I have decided not to pursue the office of the presidency," Trump said in a statement..........'

Just in case you missed it.

I can’t believe that out of the entire United States of America, Obama and these guys are the best we can come up with. As much as I hate to admit it but, if this is the best of the best, Obama will more than likely, be re-elected.

I do think that the republican side of the matter is a mess, but only because they feel as if they have numerous viable candidates.  This happens in all elections, and I am sure the democrats who aren't so pleased with the president will prop up another candidate from the democrat party to keep the president in check.  There is absolutely no way it will be Obama against 5 republican candidates. Ain't gonna happen....

The country is so divided right now.

I didn’t bother watching it. I wasn’t interested at all, which is totally out of character for me. I will watch the next one to see who all has dimples. I also think all Presidential Candidates should disclose their dental records. It would help us decide, kind of like buying a horse.

During the last presidential election, I became privy to some information that I never in a million years heard of or came close to thinking of.....  I know a lot of people on the left who registered as republicans in the primaries, voted for the republican candidate who they thought had a zero chance of becoming elected, then in the actual election voted for the democrat candidate.... kind of what Trump is up too.

This idea came to me just this morning, in regards of Trump running for president.  In the last few years Trump has been all over the major issues.  One minute he is all in with Obama- care, and nowadays he thinks its a bad idea.  He hated a lot of taxation ideas, and is now trying to stand pretty conservative on those....

Besides of looking for some spotlight time, I think he is acting conservative to regain some liberal votes that may have been lost on promises not kept by this president.... (Closing GITMO, getting out of Afghanistan and Iraq... then getting involved with Libya)  I think Trump will continue to act a fool, scaring the crap out of anyone on the left that is leaning right, and get them back over to the dark side.... he's a political tool at this point, IMHO.

Well Im sure they will come up with someone sooner or later. I always liked Mitt Romney myself, but he is mormon and he lost last round.I know it shouldnt matter, but frankly it does.  I still like em. Huckabee has dimples. Never trust anyone with dimples!!!!! Ever~~~ You can never take them seriously and they always look like they got somethin up their sleeves. I have a sis who has them I know! Out of the bunch of them tho Mitt is sincere I think.

You  mean the one fox had where half the players didnt bother to show up? That had to be an embarrassment for fox. Oh and I thought they were a fair and balanced news program? They sorta shot that illusion in the foot. Palin is a hateful sht starter and has no chance imo, Bachman on same level and is just another palin, Santori plays to the base therefore is a arse kisser and not to be trusted. Romney is mormon and lost in the previous try, and same with the others. Nothing strong enuff so far by their own admission yet they tell us obama is just a socialist, bring this country to the ground president but no one wants to go up against him? I think that says a whole lot.

Me, couldnt care less one way or the other, but the GOP is looking mighty weak in many ways. imo

We are getting better I watched the Presedential  debate the other night I liked Santori.. and a  Caine   Pawlenty was good, so there is more happening on that front. Mitt Romney can take a hike so can Bachman I would rather have Palin than her .

Here is the problem. We are in May and there is no strong candidate. Now if Obama is the socialist boob I hear about so much, why can they find no one that could beat him? I mean, if all the rhetoric we have been spoonfed is true, what seems to be the problem. Seems to me it will be Obama in 2012, and by default! I mean Trump? If this is the best of the best, well, it speaks for itself doesnt it guys?

I am a little bit late for the party but thought I would join anyway.  Ha ha!  As for Trump for president.....I am a Republican and say a big fat "NO!" on that!!!

I haven't read all of the responses, but I do agree w/ margy and brice...usually do.  He has obviously been successful business wise.  I have to agree there.  But as others have said....where he stands on one issue or another, is always changing.  I can't stand that.  Economic decisions are super important for this country, but moral issues also have a lot of meaning to me.  I have felt that the GOP has needed a strong conservative candidate for quite some time.  I would teach my kids that the right thing, may not always be the popular thing.  I feel the same way about politics.  But most politicians on both sides don't feel the same way.

Anyway, Trump is not who I would consider a strong GOP candidate!!!
