Ok, I know you all hate her, but why are her emails being given to reporters (the ones between her and her husband)? That is dirty low and I dont care who the person is. Is there some law I am not familiar with?

That is true adgal. If you work in an office or wherever, the e-mail and internet, etc. do belong to the company that you work for. Honestly, the last company that I worked for didn't have time to sit there and screen things unless they felt they had a reason. Did they have the ability? Yes, but they weren't interested unless they had reason to believe that you needed checking on. Why they would be going through Palin's e-mails now, though, I don't really understand. But like I said, the media loves to harass her just because it seems. Quite frankly, it gets old. Real news would be really refreshing......
Huh. I still think it's not right unless there was something questionable that had a direct impact on her ability to do her job, or do it in the future. I don't like to see people maligned like that. Doesn't matter who they are.
I will say this though. It's a good reminder that emails and anything on line is never really private. It's all out there. I know where I work any emails I send from the office could be screened. Same thing with websites I look at or whatever. It's all considered their property. I guess it's because we deal with a lot of confidential information...or maybe that is standard now, not sure.

they were e-mails when she was governor of Alaska they were not just husband and wife ones ..it was from her office ..the New York Times got them from the governors office as they were scrapping them then asked readers to look at them to find out anything they could Most of what they read was really nice she was so good to her staff any minor nastie's were very mild ...Darn media again of course , not doing their real job just searching for smears and character assassination stuff.wow what a change in this country ..
The Freedom of Information Act makes them release private emails between husband and wife? That doesn't seem like it should be ok. Some things should be off limits. I may not be a Palin fan, but I don't think that is ok at all. I could understand official type communications regarding her role as Gov' or other things that actually impacted the State/Country, but not that. I think that is awful.
They have found nothing on her ..how low can any people get and the NYT asking its readers to look through the e-mails for any tidbit on her, they must be afraid ..for what for scandal ...what disgusting nasty people ...
The release of emails supposedly came via the "Freedom of Information Act" and her office was asked to relinquish the emails. Basically it is either the left wing or someone on the right, less conservative but republikan... trying toi find anything to keep her back. I've never seen such a thing before.

I don't hate Palin!! And I certainly don't think her personal e-mails between her husband and herself, should be public. That's just wrong, but it isn't the first time she has been through something like this, either.

I'm super confused as to where the info came from. I caught a bit of this on the news last night, and they were talking about how the emails were "released". From whom? Where did these emails come from? Anyone know?
Supposedly this is about the "Freedom of Information Act". I've never heard of anyone else using it, but this is what politics is all about. On one side you have the left that can't stand Palin... not a bit, then you also have a few republicans that do not want her to get the nob because they think she isn't the best candidate from the republican side.... For the sake of making it interesting, why not open every politican's emails that has a horse in this race???
In my opinion, it is rather pitiful that we've come to this. The nation is as divided as 4 years ago, and now we are sifting through personal/professional emails to "get" something on someone???
There isn't a politician out there who isn't full of baloney. Romney is a lot like Trump. Mitt has talked to both sides of the room through both sides of his mouth. Absolutely a person can change their mind... but doing so day to day, week to week is just a bit much.
A lot of what bothers me about politics these days is everything hinging on religion and abortion. What needs to happen is, look at every candidate's history on the long haul. If he's proven to be efficient/proficient, stuck to his personal morals and exhibited good morals.... that's where everyone needs to be looking.
Taxation is also a hinge these days. I'm far from a political scholar but, I pay a fair amount of taxes, and if I make more money I get to pay more taxes. Every politician on the campaign trail is going to talk from there rectums and say anything to get a vote. It's been that way since I was born and it won't change.

Requesting that a person's email account be accessed should only be when there are sustainable government allegations of improper conduct and in that case it should be released to the officials themselves not the general public and only the emails that would concern sustain those allegations. There are some examples where a person's personal life does impact on their ability to function as part of the American government and this would be one good example:
