LOL...the poop part is a delicate matter. I don't know what their output daily is.....lol!!!
Maybe it is minimal and the benefits outweigh the risks.
A few years ago, I jokingly suggested we get goats for the yard. (It's against city ordinance to keep farm stock on a lot smaller than one acre. We're just under an acre, so I knew we couldn't do it.)
I suggested that instead of taking the dog run down, we use it to keep the goats and let them loose on the grass once a day. My dh went ballistic!!! Funny to watch. The boys thought it was great! They mow the yard. But they too realized I was joking and had a great time giving my husband grief over it.
Truth be known, I'd love to have a couple of goats! I just don't want to scoop the poop! The dog's is bad enough.
We used them on military bases forty years ago, particuliary around ammunition and chemical storage bunkers. A regular mower could not be used. These were often irregularly shaped high mounds. The idea was to have six foot of earth over the explosives. The goats would climb on them and keep the weeds down, which helped with security.
