What is up with all these Earthquakes in a weeks time?

Earthquake Hits Guatemala, 6.0 Magnitude (MAP)

Almost a week after a 7.0 earthquake devastated Haiti, today theU.S. Geological Survey reported an earthquake with a 6.0 magnitude off the coast of Guatemala today.

The quake was about 64 miles deep and 60 miles southeast of Guatemala City.  Damages are light and there has not been any casualties reported so far.

The world is on edge as earthquakes are follow Haiti's devastating quake.  Venezuala was rocked by a 5.6 magnitude earthquake on Friday, and 6.3 magnitude in Argentina.  Luckily, no majory damage or casualties reported.

6.0 Mag. aftershock south of port o prince, in Haiti. An aftershock as strong as the original earthquake. No word on damage.

I know. It is strange to see all these in one weeks time. Is it building to another big one somewhere other than Haiti? With all that is going on across the globe, it is bringing what the bible says up close and personal. And the weather with all the crop losses and groceries getting sky hi, makes you wonder. I think about how we are depleting the oil from the earth. Could that be the coolent of the earth? It is there for a reason other than us using it. I wonder if by depleting the oil and leaving empty pockets if maybe that is not a further cause of not only earthquakes but what some call global warming as well. Gee sorry, off topic and thinking out loud again. Does anyone else do this, sit and think about this stuff? lol

As a Christian it does make me wonder if we're living in end times. Jesus did warn that there would be bigger and more frequent earthquakes before he comes back, among other signs.

You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of birth pains. (Matthew 24:6-8; Mark 13:7-8 NIV).

I think I will google to see what others have been detected it ode seem strange that we would get so many all round the same time , I think there is a way of looking at their seismic maps ....

It makes one wonder how many more there will be. It is kind of scary! They say earthquakes do not happen in Florida but I know for a fact that they do! When it did happen, they said it was rare but while researching the net I found an article written by some guy in russia that was talking about how florida is a disaster zone waiting to happen and our government knows it and is not telling the people. He named Englewood Beach in his studies which is like 5 minutes from me. The ones we had originated out in the gulf. I have been scared of em every since. I can outrun a hurricane but not an earthquake and just the thought of a tsunami? Chills my bones! I went bak to copy the article a couple weeks later and it was gone. Scary!

Yes it is due to the tectonic plates of the earth moving. The San Andreas fault is one. That is in California. When they do that creates the probability of earthquakes. Since all those countries are located next to each other that would be an explanation why. One reason the United States is ahead in this area is that scientists have researched it and know when the next earthquake may happen and are prepared and can inform the public about it as well as greater regulations so buildings are earthquake resistant which does not occur in third world countries and the way they are poorly constructed out of easy to find materials often makes the potential for loss of human lives as well as structural collapse far more of a potential. This one at least has a very specific explanation.

I know I felt one around the same time Venezuala  got hit in California actually it was 4am our time .. I rememebr the North ridge quake in CA and we had a flurry felt in Santa Monica and beyond..then the big one hit , I was on my boat and yes it does affect the water the boat was thrown too and fro, and we got chucked out of our bunks ..we then proceeded to yell at each other because we couldnt find a flash light .my daughter in UK called within 20 mins they are 8 hours ahead and she heard it on the news ..shortly after she called all phones went dead ....we went outside to chaos ....
