Reformed Islam Extremist Speaks Out

Can you tell Ryder is fussy tonight?  Watching CNN in between his "wake ups".  So this was interesting.  CNN interviewed a reformed Muslim Extremist.  He know speaks out and gives lectures against extremists and was talking about what changed his mind.  He said that the true Q'aran does not sanction killing and jihad (I have actually heard that from Muslim friends).  He said that there is much misinterpretation, but that most of these extremists do not come from an overly religous background.  A true learned Muslim does not support today's terrorism.  He said that just like the bible, much is open to interpretation and the crazies (my word, not his) twist the Q'aran to sanction these attacks.  He also said that if countries like the US and England were truly engaging in a war against Islam, they would be starting in their own countries as there are many Muslim citizens in both countries.  (much like Hitler started with the Jewish living in Germany).  He talks to young Muslims about this fact to prove to them that the west is not actually attacking Islam.  It was interesting, especially coming from someone who was an extremist.  I think it's great he is doing what he is doing.  Anyhow, just thought I would share, it was interesting.

I just thought it was fascinating to hear directly from someone who used to be involved in extremism and has changed his ways.  You know that the young muslims who are considering getting involved will listen to him, and perhaps he will sway some of them away from hatred of the west.  Those within this faith speaking out are going to have the most credibility and can perhaps make a real difference.

Crime committed in the name of religion. Yeah, we have had our share of people saying god told them to do this and that. Blowing up abortion clinics, killing people. Sick people is what they are and hearing voices! However, if you get them banding together and tell the lie often enough it becomes truth to them. We really do need to watch out for the radicals in any group as they prove to be the dangerous ones for sure.
