State Law Bans Abortions After 20 Weeks

Danielle Deaver, of Grand Island, told The Associated Press that she was about 22 weeks when she learned that she wouldn't be able to carry the pregnancy to term and that her child would die soon after birth.

Deaver said her doctors told her she'd have to go into labor naturally because they couldn't medically induce her because of state law.

Deaver gave birth Dec. 8 to a baby girl that died 15 minutes later.

Deaver said the delay caused by the law added to her grief.

Jesus.... I know they have to draw the lines somewhere, but this just seems horrible to me.  I am not big on abortions any time, but I personally think a woman has that right to have it done safely.  A woman has to live with that decision..... but this, making a woman carry a baby to tern knowing full well the baby will die?  Wow!!!!  Glad I didn't have to draw that line in the sand!

I am not a proponent of late term abortions, but I do think there should be certain exceptions.  This is one.  The pain of knowing your pregnancy is not viable is bad enough.  To be forced to carry that baby knowing that would compound things 100%.  If there is no hope at all, this is just wrong.  I hurt so badly for this women...I well know what it's like to lose a baby and in my case had to have D&C's.  I am trying to imagine not being allowed to have that D&C and be forced to continue until it happened naturally. This just seems so cruel to me.
