Sensitivity training on the board???  For the heck of it, Ill give my opinion.  I find it perplexing when anyone of any race, nationality, creed can call someone of the same race an inflamitory name with no concerns, but rush to get up in arms when someone else does.... doesn't make a lick of sense to me.

On the same token, I'm adopted and have no idea what my nationality is, but Im probably Italian, Irish, and Polish combined.... the jokes don't bother me, the negative names dont bother me.... when the negative names are thrown around, it is about getting under the skin of the one they are hurling the remarks too.  My skin is thicker than that, and then I take a good luck at the individual making the remarks and have a real good idea on whom I am dealing with.

In short, if one is going to use language that is not applicable for all people to use.... it is you who has the problem.  If you dont like language like that, just dont use it.  You're sure to offend someone and illicit some kind of a response.... if you do use it, be prepared for the responses....  In addition, I prefer to judge people by their character... none of you do I find of questionable character.

To explain my comments...I just don't like anything..comments or jokes about anyone's race, religion, belief system, whatever.  Never have, never will.  I don't necessarily believe that those that make the comments are racists..some are, some aren't.  Same reason I get all defensive about the Muslim posts/comments around here.  Comments like that can be hurtful to others and I just don't like it.  It's not political correctness, just the way my mind works.  I try to imagine being a part of that group and reading it and how hurt it would make me feel.

I do not see you as monkeys and as far as looting goes, those poor white ones will do it every time as well. I think it's a combination of things.  Sorry Teko, love you, but I just don't believe it's revelations.  I think its a combination of global warming (yes, I think there is something to it, even if I don't buy into all that some say about it) and just the earth's natural changes.  It sure is scary though.  And it's happening everywhere now.  My heart breaks for those losing loved ones.  Last night on the news they showed a picture of a toddler that is still missing and I just sat down and cried.  I am trying to picture myself in his mother's shoes and almost can't stand it.

el, yes I am offended, but not in the way you might think. Actually I am more offended that you did not get slapped up one side and down the other for saying such a thing in this day and age knowing it is not acceptable. Sometimes silence says it all. Shame on you! Now lets move on.

I hear more storms happening now as we speak, Gotta cll the loved ones again and remind them to keep an eye to the sky. I think we really ticked off mother nature. So is it Revelations or is it Global warming? Or does it even matter anyways? :(

Last night the tornados were bearing down on Texas and again on Missouri I hope its easing off.what a year ,really wild weather .we have had very strong winds here in CA I don't remember them this strong at this time of year more rain than usual ..

Well, can't say I am offended personally, but I do have to say that I think jokes/comments like that just aren't funny.  Sorry, but you asked. Probably not a big surprise coming from me though.  I will say that I do find your jokes funny the vast majority of the time though.  I usually love reading your comments on any given topic.

Just a little reminiscent of New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina, and the scenes of looting we saw on television. Remember the news camera catching a New Orleans policewoman looting at Walmart, along with the other monkey's?

I saw they not only have no sirens, a lot of people have no place to hide since their homes are gone. I also saw one woman went to her moms to check on her but her mom is not there, but the thieves were pilfering through her moms stuff!

Seeing all the coverage in the news about this is like deja vu. The scenes that are shown is like reliving what happened here in AL three weeks ago.
I feel for these people. We've been through it too here in AL. In fact, a lot of churches and organizations here are sending donations out to MO to help out--the reports are titling the articles according to the subject of "paying it forward."
I've had my status set here on MH for the last three weeks to asking people to donate to the Red Cross to help the hundreds of people who have lost everything, even their lives. It's so sad. The Red Cross is doing a lot to help. I still see volunteers around here going into Walmarts from time to time in groups, getting stuff for people. I am very grateful to have such a great organization helping out with these natural disasters.

I have been following this. Now they have no sirens to warn them and more storms are forecast for them. Scary! They are still in search and rescue mode today and I think they said starting tomorrow it will be search and recover with the dogs being used as tools to locate any human scent.
