I am with you......creeeeepy.
These things scare the beegeebies out of me. Im a wimp and feel totally vulnerable. I guess the way I deal with stuff like this is to realize that there is a day to be born and a day to die. I believe its already chosen. But, with that said, quality of life is important to me as well. To think something like Japan can happen here is overwhelming.
Sorry... that was meant to say "backup-backup-generator failure".
meaning, the backup generator failed, and IT'S backup failed.
Double & triple redundancy is the norm and they had quadruple, and they all failed due to the combined earthquake & tsunami.
No one foresaw a 40ft wave of water breaking over the tsunami wall, when all scientific models pointed to a max 30 ft wave.
I'm not an expert or anything, but I've watched a lot of TLC and Discovery Channel and NatGeo stuff on this topic over the last several months.
well..... apparently those who should be up on inspections.. have been sleeping on the job....

after Va. quake...they decided to find out if they are needing some improvements...whoops
Yes.
We have (27) of them in the United States.
Japan has X-number of nuclear power-plants, and we have (27).
(1) of Japan's is in a bad way right now, due to an unforeseen and cataclysmic run of bad luck and unfortunate events.
Earthquake, tsunami, power-failure, backup-generator failure, back-back-generator failure, water-coolant auto-shutdown failure.
Seriously, it was a BILLION-to-ONE that that happened in Japan.
I'm not going to say NEVER, but the chance of it happening here is slim to none.
I'll take my chances with nuclear power bbxx.
