THis is kind of always what happens though isn't it. The media jumps on a big disaster story, then as soon as the dramatic part is over (ie: the actual disaster) they move onto the next topic. But the aftermath is often far worse then the disaster itself. Look at what is still happening in Haiti...people still dying from awful diseases after the fact. But, the drama is over so no more coverage. Most of the world doesn't even know it's still an issue (and that Haiti still hasn't received much of the funds promised by various countries...my own included sadly). It's always an in the moment. It's about ratings, not about real stories anymore. Sad.
The media has much to answer for , I don't hear much real news at all and I include Fox in fact I go to the BBC for anything going on ..I rarely hear whats going on in the middle east or Israel ..the internet is the only way I get anything ..Poor people I hope they do better soon in Joplin you are right if its abroad its race and rush to get help but when its our own country it takes forever .. ..
Its so sad to think that these peope already have so much to deal with. Loss of life, loss of homes, vehicle, loss of things that they will never get back--like photos, or other things of sentimental value. Then they have to recover from injuries and now this too. I wonder if all the people are in homes now? Do they have a way to get back and forth to work? Do they have a place to go to work at? Do they have running water? Can they drink their water? So many things to think about and i wonder if they feel forgotten by us.
Yes the media should be paying more attention to this and address this right away. Whenever there is a natural disaster there are often further consequences of it that affect people's lives as well. There also should be assistance on a nationwide level to rebuild the area and help people get their lives back together, their businesses back as well as their homes. Since this has been done in some areas and even in other countries this should be resolved in the same manner. Priority as regards assistance with natural disasters of any kind should be America at all times.
