What estimated due date did the doctor give you when you went in for the ultrasound on October 23, was it June 13?
When you say " I found out I was pregnant October 20th went in for a scan the 23rd and it was dated 6 weeks 5 days which takes it back to September 7th," it sounds like you are making an incorrect assumption that the doctor was telling you that you conceived on September 7.
The pregnancy time period a doctor is referring to when he mentions weeks is the time period between a calculated first day of the last period and the date the baby would be due, which is an average of 40 weeks. But from conception to birth is 38 weeks, since the average woman ovulates a couple of weeks after her period. This kind of count is a holdover from Grandma's day, when they had nothing to begin the count (no ultrasounds) except the first day of the last period. The count tacks a couple of weeks onto the length of the pregnancy at the front end, to count everything back to a calculated first day of the prior period.
If your doc told you that you were 6 weeks 5 days GA on October 23, he was saying that the size of the embryo is consistent with conception around September 20, and I assume he would have told you a due date of around June 13. This all leads to the second guy.
