My dentist started to drill a root canal, but within a minute - he said he had caused a worse crack then was already present. So he suggested a surgical extraction, while I was still numb. The surgigal extraction was $390. The minute that he started drilling (before the crack got worse-caused by the drilling) is being billed for $380.00!! The office personel said that is the billing for the "started" root canal, no matter how short of a time it took. $380.00 for a minute or less of drilling... how on earth can this be legal - that comes out to $22,800.00 per hour!! I told her this, but she insisted that was the amount. I asked to talk to the dentist - and after being on hold for 15 minutes, I hung up and called back. I got their voicemail! What recourse do I have here?? I plan on calling my dental insurance tomorrow, on my lunch break. Thanks for any suggestions or help you might have.
