Yes, Thank you Gelia. I did meet with my new cardiologistIs nurse practioner who had me where a monitor for 24 hrs, Now I go back to see the cardiologist for the first time on the 3rd. The nurse practioner just told me to tell my family doctor about the numbness. My family doctor who is a PA said don't worry bout it. I did not tell either of them about the Amalgam filling being removed as I did not think of that factor at the time. How do you not worry about it when you feel disturbed sensations (numbness) and visual vagueness 24/7. I did talk to my PA about seeing a neurologist. I don"t understand how a cardiac issue might relate to the numbnesss in my face and in the roof of my mouth to the top of my head. Unless maybe I have had TIAs on both sides. It's as though the novicane never completely wore off or the root canal has somehow effected my facial nerve. I am reading under Root Canal Dangers that root canals can cause auto immune responses and infections???
I thought about TIAs being a factor but those appear to effect one side of the body or the other. So many questions and possibilities at this point.
As far as medications go, I have been taking Lisinopril 10 mg once per day since July 16th of this yr for blood pressure and Simvastatin 20 mg since March 10th of this year. But again this numbness has only begun since the root canal was done. Thank you for any futher input.
I don't think I can see the relationship between the procedure you had done (root canal) and the cardiac problem you are having now.
If it were a mercury issue, your filling is gone so it shouldn't be affecting you at all. Removing (grinding it down) it would have no general impact on your health once it was gone. Symptomology would have appeared when the filling was placed, not at removal.
There are no nerves that have a direct connection to cause any of the symptoms you describe, so I honestly don't think this is dental related. Porcelain crowns have no metal in them so a metal allergy is basically ruled out.
I'm more concerned with the cardiac symptomology you relate.
All the things you describe can be cardiac related and the only way to find out is to use a Holter monitor for a week or so so that the dr can see exactly what your heart is doing during the rapid pulse and BP rise (you click a button when you feel symptoms so they are highlighted).
The timing may be a confusing factor. Your cardiac and dental problems appear, from what you say, to be unrelated. That doesn't mean they aren't there. Just apparently unrelated.
I urge you to have the cardiac symptoms checked out.
My best to you,
Gellia
Hi Gelia
Please allow me to give you a little more info as I am finding this may be a mercury issue possibly ??? I appreciate any further comments you may have
A couple months ago (7/22/11) a dentist removed my old fillings (which I believe were amalgam / mercury) by grinding them away and after exposing the root he decided I needed a root canal which he performed. On Aug 5th he cemented on an porcelain / ceramic crown.
Since the day of the root canal. I have been experiencing ( parasthesia) full body numbness. This numbness is especially prominent in my face and head and scalp. Everything seems vague and distant (brain fog) and numb throughout my being.
I feel a constant slight sense of vertigo and dizziness. I also have been experiencing occassional and sudden heart palpitations followed by a rapid pulse and a sudden rise in blood pressure.
Sincerely,
Anthony
Hi,
It's possible that one has nothing to do with the other, or you may have been esp. sensitive to the novocaine if it had epinephrine in it, thereby making you more aware of heart arrhythmias.
If you are having cardiac symptoms, a good place to start would be with a cardiologist for perhaps a Holter monitor to check your heart rhythms over a period of time. The palpitations may be causing your other symptoms and again have nothing to do with your tooth.
Anytime heart function is involved it's wise to have it checked.
Good luck.
My best to you,
Gellia
