Multiple infections...what to do?

I was on antibiotics for an impacted tooth and was then put on antibiotics for pneumonia and told to stop taking the antibiotics for my tooth. Now the pneumonia seems to be clearing up but the infection in my mouth seems to be coming back. What could I do?

Thank you mammo. I'll do just that now that the weekend is over. I am feeling a bit better but not as good as I think I should be feeling after the bout of anitbiotics(5 day). I appreciate your comment and concern. :-)

No problem.  I would call your doctor right away and let him know how you're feeling and remind him of the infected socket you were being treated for.  Ask him to speak with your dentist about all of this.  Are you coughing up anything?  With pneumonia you will cough up green plegm.  But regardless you need to call your doctor right away because you should be feeling much better by now.  Don't let either of them give you the run around.  Good luck.

Hi mammo,
Thank you for your response. I guess I should have been more specific, being new to this site, I wasn't sure how it works. At any rate. the tooth( two of them actually) were extracted. The extraction site became infected and I was put on antibiotics. About two or three days after the extractions I began to feel sick, even though I was on the antibiotics, within a week, maybe less, I was coughing, had a fever, couldn't breath, and was so tired and weak I could barely get out of bed. I went to the doctor and they took a chest xray. The doctor said that the penicillin I was on for the infection in my mouth could mask the signs of pneumonia and told me to stop taking it. The xrays showed (they said) a virus and that there was "possibly" pneumonia He put me on antibiotics for the pneumonia. I've been on them for 4 days out of a 5 day cycle of them, and I'm still feeling tired, weak, no fever, but chills, coughing, shortness of breath, and now it seems like the infection from the extraction site in my mouth is coming back. I don't know if I should make a doctor appointment or a dentist appointment. I feel like the problems with my lungs are actually coming from the infection in my mouth and that the doctors are overlooking the connection. It seems like I should be feeling much better by now from the antibiotics if it's truly pneumonia and my concern is sepsis. This has all been going on for about two weeks now. Any feedback or suggestion would be welcomed and helpful. Thank you.

The antibiotics for your pneumonia would have cleared up any infection with an impacted tooth.  It sounds like that tooth needs to come out...call your dentist and let him know what is going on and go from there.  Take care!
