Question

For years I have thought I had TMJ but just recently I started having right sided pain like headaches that go behind eye and into temple, cheek pain, teeth pain, neck and throat pain.  I was stretching my neck when I felt a tight band like thing under my jaw.  It is REALLY tight too...feels like a rubber band stretched until it is about to break.  Is this my stylohyoid ligament?  I was trying to figure out what the heck it was and this is the only thing I could come up with.  I have been to an ENT several times a long time ago due to bumps on the floor of my mouth and such but he always said they were normal.  This ligament thing is new though (if that is what it is)...I know it is what is causing my teeth to hurt because when I touch it my teeth right above it hurt.

Any ideas?  I am going to my regular doctor on Thursday.  Thanks for your help!

ENT may identify it's a mass or not. Manual therapists are generally more familiar with muscuoskeltal disorder. Based on provided information. I tend to rule out a musculoskeltal disorder.

I showed that thing in my neck to my doctor and he said def feels like a ligament.  I still think it is related to my jaw somehow though just because of the pain.

He said I could go to an ENT if I want to.  What do you think?

Most of your descriptions are related to tmj issue other than throat problem. Patients never reported throat problem in my practice. If tmj therapy can not solve your problem, manipulative therapist such as osteopath, chiropractor may provide additional help. In brief, total body mechanics or posture meeds to be evaluated. All musculoskeletal systems are connected and function all together.

So TMJ can cause this???  That is what I am wondering.  Since it is in my neck (or under my jaw going into my neck) I thought maybe I had been misdiagnosed with TMJ and really it is something else having to do with this weird tight ligament.

Thanks for your help!
