Still sore at tongue biopsy site 4 weeks post op

I had a strange sensation at the right back of the underside of my tongue (where your tongue meets your throat). I saw two dentists & an ENT who weren't concerned. I then saw an oral surgeon who had a look at the area & said there was an indentation right at the very back on that side & not on the other. He took a small biopsy to be safe which came back as irritated keratosis from possible trauma. Two weeks post op I then visited an Oral Pathologist who throughly checked my mouth & told me there was nothing to be concerned about & to use Kenacomb ointment on the lateral sides of my tongue due to frictional keratosis. I am now 4 weeks post biopsy. The site where the biopsy was taken has a small hardened bit of tissue & looks red. My mouth is dry, my tongue & gums constantly burn & I still feel like there is something stuck at the back of my tongue. It is really affecting my quality of life & im concerned it may be an oral cancer that is somehow being missed. Has anyone had a similar experience? Any thoughts on how I should proceed to try & get to the bottom of this?

It takes weeks to months to be effective for pharmacological treatment of burning mouth syndrome. In addition, titration of clonazepam dosage is generally required. If you have no problem of taking omega 3 fatty acid( fish oil) and alpha lipoid acid, these two nutritional supplements may also help burning mouth syndrome.you may need to visit your oral pathologist weekly in order to titration the dosage of clonazepam.

I went back to the oral pathologist who assures me that she is not at all concerned. The area of redness at the biopsy site is not as bad as I think apparently. After another thorough examination I was told that I possibly have Burning Mouth Syndrome & to begin topical clonazepam treatment. I'm a week into treatment & have felt no change yet. The OP has given me a referral for an MRI to set my mind at ease that nothing more sinister is going on but feels that is not really necessary from her findings. My mouth feels like it's on fire!!
