Going back to see oral pathologist is advised.
I went back to the oral pathologist who assures me that she is not at all concerned. The area of redness at the biopsy site is not as bad as I think apparently. After another thorough examination I was told that I possibly have Burning Mouth Syndrome & to begin topical clonazepam treatment. I'm a week into treatment & have felt no change yet. The OP has given me a referral for an MRI to set my mind at ease that nothing more sinister is going on but feels that is not really necessary from her findings. My mouth feels like it's on fire!!
It takes weeks to months to be effective for pharmacological treatment of burning mouth syndrome. In addition, titration of clonazepam dosage is generally required. If you have no problem of taking omega 3 fatty acid( fish oil) and alpha lipoid acid, these two nutritional supplements may also help burning mouth syndrome.you may need to visit your oral pathologist weekly in order to titration the dosage of clonazepam.
