Thank you for your help! The socket seems to be healing after she took some antibiotics. The doctor said it could take a good while for the socket to completely close though
Hi there,
The back teeth are in close proximation with the sinus. There is a thin bone separating the sinus from the roots of the teeth. It can happen during tooth extraction that a piece of bone comes along with the sinus in cases when the tooth is close to the bone because of infection. There can be perforation also. There can be fistulas also sometimes. Treatment involves use of antibiotics, sinus washings to cleanse the sinus from infection and other specific management depending on the situation. A dental examination is absolutely necessary. If you are not satisfied with your dentist’s opinion seek another opinion. I hope it helps.
Best luck and regards!
