Compound odontoma (hamartoma): is it worth getting it removed

Hi,
I am a 19 yo female and was recently diagnosed with compound odontoma (hamartoma) between the first and second molar on the lower left jaw. This was discovered when I was going in to discuss the removal of my wisdoms. I know that compound odontoma is a benign tumour and it cannot become malignant (cancerous). However, the dentist recommends removing it, as it can become cystic later on in life. It is very close to the tongue, so I could lose permanently lose sensation in my tongue, first and second molar and/or deform my lower jaw. It doesnt hurt at all, and I did not know it existed until the X-rays revealed it. My question is, is it worth getting it removed, especially when the cons weigh out the pros? Would it be recommended to wait it out and see if a problem occurs and then doing something about it?
Thanks
