Wisdom teeth extraction and pot smoking

I had all four wisdom teeth pulled a little over a month ago.  I developed a dry soocket a couple days in.  I am a regular pot smoker, but went by the book and didn't smoke, but ended up with dry socket anyway.  Long story short, both of the lower extraction points haven't fully closed and one ened up getting infected.  The surgeon kept insisting I don't smoke.  My question is, since it has been a month since the surgery, is he telling me not to smoke becasue of the suction issue, or becasue it is bad for the infection?  Obviously I can't tell him I smoke pot, but if it isn't the suction issue, and it is just the fact that cigarette smoke is bad for the infection, does this hold true for pot smoke as well?

So smoking Pot shouldn't delay the healing process, or cause any problems?

Nicotine tends to delay wound healing and compromise blood supply, therefore, infections ensues.
