Burning, Itching, irritated tongue

Hello All,

Is there anyone out there who can help me. About a month a ago my tongue became very irritated. I thought maybe I was suffering from canker sores, but my  symptoms are not consistent with canker sores. The symptoms are as follows

1. Burning/Itching sides of tongue (mostly the base of the tongue underneath)
2. The top/tip of my tongue felt like it was burning for about 2 weeks then stopped
3. Whenever I eat spicy or acidic foods my symptoms increase tremendously
4. Also my cheeks and inner lips sometimes itch as well.

I have gone to doctors and a dentist no one sees anything. I do however have a small inflammation on the right side of my tongue. It's been over a month and still no relief.

If someone could shed some light on this for me I would greatly appreciate it.

I've found that toothpaste and that includes all the expensive brands for sensitive teeth on down the line have basic soap in them. Who knew ? I sure didn't !  Not until I started having the very same problems many of the people have described like red burning tongue, gums and it travels out to the lips.  Finally , I had to talk to our dentist and was told about soap being in toothpaste. While some didn't have it in the past and some had small amounts, according to him it has been increased and more people are having issues like us. Look for the ingredient called Sodium laurel sulfate when buying mouth products. I will say its getting more difficult to find any that doesn't have sls including Toms all natural, which never had it before but now I'm unable to find that brand w/o as well .  I will be following these posts in hopes someone will have answers that help us soon because it's not pleasant and after a few weeks like this you can't enjoy even bland foods without quite a bit of pain. Good luck to all.
