For as long as I can remember, I have had a whitish tongue.  I am a 19 year old male, I have never been very good about brushing my teeth, but never have needed major dental work.  Recently, I have noticed very slight small bit of whitish material underneath my top lip, directly on the underside of where the left side and right side of my top lip come together.  I think it might be oral thrush but am not sure.  The other day, I was eating some raw lemons and there was a slight irritating feeling where I mentioned what I thought was oral thrush.

what else can cause oral thrush besides HIV.

any immune compromised state is predisposed to thrush.
