i wish i were dead. any thoughts?

i have been taking norco's on and off for about 2 years.  i am currently without any and wish that i were dead.  seriously.  not even the withdrawls (i have actually not had any for awhile so....) but the depression is fierce.  i have already been chronically depressed for years so... anyway, just looking for some support, i don't actually wanna face this with my family.  sigh.

If you at any time feel you are going to harm yourself, please go to your local ER.

Unfortunately pain meds can mask depressive symptoms, and you are getting "high" of the narcotics. It's a nasty cycle and getting off them can be really hard. Did you stop on your own accord or did you doctor stop prescribing them?  I'm on the opposite end of the scale, I have chronic ongoing pain and my doctor won't give me anything and as a result my depression gets triggered. It's a fine line when it comes to treatment. It's really important that you seek help for your addiction and depression, it will get better, many folks here have been in the same boat and come out the other end of the tunnel.
Please see your doctor asap and get a referral to a psychiatrist, the sooner you do it the better.

I understand it must be frightening to feel that way. You are getting withdrawal symptoms and its best to go to a recovery group for support but don't go back on anything addictive. What you did was probably some form of self medication. It only numbed the depression. It didn't help it. You need to speak to a psychiatrist and they could find the right medication for you. For more information the website "Depression Central' is good. A dual recovery group for a person with a psychiatric disability and a substance abuse issue might be very helpful in addition to speaking to a psychiatrist but if you feel suicidal seek help now.

please, dont ever say that..i take celexa for depression and it really helped me...i self medicated out of habit (with oxys) even after my depression was under control..you will go thru some wds but they will pass, and you will get your life back..really consider some antidepressants..they are not happy pills but will help with any chemical imbalance you might have so you will sleep at night and not be anxious...and you dont have to take thm forever but you just taper off...i just lost my mom last week and i have been thinking a lot about everything, including how for the past few years i was always on something (and now she knows huh!!) but really you are not alone, talk to me anytime..

It's awful! My post is right above yours. That will tell you about me.
Hang in there & I will too.
