At your age your body and mind are growing and learning from lifes experiences, some good and some bad. The goal in our society is to be and active member and participate in creating a successful life, community and spiritual meaning for yourself and also sharing your lifes experiences with others less blessed. Shareing your wisdom with others is one of the greatest gifts that the good Lord endowed us with. In our society we have a lot of free time compared to other country lifestyles. I lived and worked in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, east Africa and Asia for my years of most of those peoples days consist of finding daily food, shelter and picking the right stick from a tree to bush their teeth with. With what your going through to fill in that time you might take up jogging as this will help you focus your thoughts and become a healthy person. Jogging helps in many ways. It gives you something to look forward to, creates a daily regiment and while jogging all those stray thoughts tend to stabilize. Dont waste your time on idol thoughts that dont have an outcome, instead train your mind to think only of things that are benificial to you, your family, nature and your community.

I dont plan on trying it out or anything, ive never smoked it. Ive only been around people who have and I cant stand that smell it gives off. I was just curious as to exactly what It does to a person to keep them going back for more.  Judging by what nursegirl said, I really think that cpuld of been the cause, it does stuff to your brain doesnt it?

I appreciate yout honesty.  There are a couple problems with this kind of midset.  For one, when you get in the habit of "self medicating" as a way to deal with your problems, things can turn ugly in no time.  You turn to weed as a way to comfort yourself, and deal with the anxiety/depression you may feel as a result of whatever you have going on in your life.  Sure, there's a good chance that, temporarily, you'll feel better.

But then, what's going to keep you from popping a few pain pills to help ease the emotional pain of life?  What next?  Heroin?  I'm not a huge believer that weed is a "gateway" drug for everyone, but for some, you bet it is.  And you may say, "Nursegirl, I would NEVER do that"...but a lot of other people have said the same thing...and when a person is hurting, and really has never learned a PROPER way to cope, then the chance is there that one day, the pot just won't be enough, OR the pot will cause more anxiety....then, you'll be seeking out something else to ease your mind.  That's how a lot of drug addicts and alcoholics are born.

Just give it some thought. It's FAR better if you learn actual coping techniques, rather than numbing the pain.  You will be able to handle most anything life is going to throw at you if you can self soothe, and learn how to work through issues, and work through your feelings.

Take care!  Hope you start feeling better soon, and hope you decide to seek some help!  You will be glad you did!

Hi!

I agree with nursegirl!! You should not go back to  marawanah and go to a doctor instead, that way you can recieve help the "legal" way.  Im glad you  have stopped it, visit with your doctor and tell him/her whats going on. And when nursegirl said it even makes mental illness worse, it makes me wonder if marawana is to blame in the first place..?
Take care!

Without getting into a big pot/anti-pot discussion, I'll just say that really, it's much more reasonable to approach these issues you're having with a mental health professional, for many reasons.

One, you may be bi-polar, or have some other condition that needs medication to manage.  Two, while pot MAY help you, there are obvious disadvantages.  Whether you agree with it or not, it's illegal in most places, and it's just not a consistent way to treat emotional /mental health issues.  Lastly, marijuana has actually been known to worsen mental health issues.

I urge you to talk to your doctor, and ask for a referral to a psychiatrist.  Let us know what you find out.
