Confused.

I'm 15 years old. I'm a practiced catholic as well. There's nothing wrong with my religion but I feel like everything is wrong with me. I am overweight, though I'm slowly working on getting that solved. But I don't see the problem. I have amazing friends who tell me I light up a too and love me. I don't have sex or do drugs, though I did at one point
Lie and say I did. I'm also trying to quit masturbating. I don't know i am depressed. Everything
Seems to be fine but I always cry, I lost drive to study for upcoming midterms, and I have suicidal feelings. Any advice?

The feeling of being depressed is not to be taken lightly. Are you having these thoughts of suicide getting serious? If it is, you must talk to your parents . Your family comes first because your parents especially can help you. Being a teen is tough. It's good to know that you realize also you have friends that love you. Never take that for granted. I'm also a catholic like you. One thing that I've learned through the years is to PRAY. Asking God for guidance everyday helps. Never let go of your faith . I will include you in my prayers. Chin up and be strong .

I read everything Hamed wrote and he explained depression perfectly.I would like to add that we all go through depression at different stages in our lives but self harm or suicide is NEVER the answer because what I have learned from being on this planet for nearly 41 years is that things do get better and they will improve. That wonderful saying which is true,"it will pass" and then you will look back on this part of your life and know you were able to beat it.We all have hope and where there is hope there is always a chance for things to get better. You have your whole life ahead of you. There are no expectations or pressures on you, just be yourself. All the best.

Good morning or evening or day or night or afternoon and hello. My name is Hamed Khatiz and I am a sixteen year old adviser, singer, writer, drummer, shooter guard, human being and many more from Sydney NSW. It is adviser time. Before you go further, I would just like to say it is long, very long, but please read it all and good or bad, just please get back to me.

OK, to begin with Depression is a disease and like many diseases, it can come on without warning or apparent reason. I love how you said everything "seems" to be fine. I talked earlier with a woman who felt this way too. She had a wonderful life, wonderful boyfriend and amazing friends and felt terrible about it. So your's is not exactly a unique case i.e. you are not alone.

There is one thing which I wish to ask you. Are you getting enough sleep between the times of 8pm and twelve midnight? Because, you might not know this, but that it the time serotonin, sometimes called the happy hormone, is made in your body. This is something which you could possibly change in your lifestyle with relative ease too. That would help your battle with weight and is an enticingly possible explanation to the lack of grades.

Especially with teenagers the production of serotonin is very important. Sleep is very important.

The early onset of puberty is something which can result in teen depression. The emotional complexities of puberty onset could seriously affect someone who is extremely young and does not know how to cope with those emotions. I got that from a man named Hayward and that, I believe is true. There is also a link between early puberty onset, sleep and weight, so the triple threat, if I may say.

That's only my advice, so in conclusion.

Those two things are things which you cannot control, no matter how good your life is, no matter how beautiful and supportive your friends are. It is intense stress on your body, LoveADTR and stress on your body means stress on your emotions: Depression and unexplained depression

That's my two cents on the causes of your depression. I'm nearly done and I am begging you to read this next bit.

Depression is like a leech, it ***** on you and everything around you. You begin to pick up unhealthy patterns of living and so you start to exhibit harmful behaviours which makes the condition worse. Such as: Over sensitivity and Emotional dependence.

Becoming emotionally dependent/attached is never a good thing. Each human being needs to form their own identity and independence. However, a depressed person, as stated before is in need of so much, that they may become "clingy or needy". Again, people of this world can be so unkind and it is never good to cling to a sinking ship.

They are not able to just call it a loss and say "ah well, people suck." They take it to heart, making them sadder than before and hopelessness creeps in. Its the hopelessness that makes people suicidal.

I have said an awful lot and get back to me. Hamed Khatiz.
