Yes, if you have a total hysterectomy you will go into menopause. Your ovaries provide hormones that keep you in the reproductive stage of your life. When the ovaries slow down or stop functioning (as in a total hysterectomy) then you go into menopause. I am in menopause and dealing with hot flashes daily. My sister had chemo and radiation for breast cancer. Chemo targets fast growing cells which includes cancer cells, ovaries, and hair (which explains why you go bald). She is now in full blown menopause.
So, anyway if your ovaries have been removed you will be in menopause unless you take hormones (estrogen) daily.
