increasing dose of effexor

I feel like the medication is working, but I also feel like it would work better at a little higher dose.  Is it ok to ask my Dr. to increase the dose?  I'm taking 75 xr now.

Before increasing the dose, start doing this pranayam and you may not need to change the dose. This pranayam has a very relaxing effect on your mind and you will feel the difference in weeks.
Build up your timing gradually. If you feel tired or dizzy, stop and resume after one minute.
Anulom Vilom pranayam –
Close your right nostril with thumb and deep breath-in through left nostril
then – close left nostril with two fingers and breath-out through right nostril
then -keeping the left nostril closed  deep breath-in through right nostril
then - close your right nostril with thumb and breath-out through left nostril.
This is one cycle of anulom vilom.
Repeat this cycle for 15 to 30  minutes twice a day.
Children under 15 years – do 5 to 10 minutes twice a day.
You can do this before breakfast/lunch/dinner or before bedtime or in bed.Remember to take deep long breaths into the lungs. You can do this while sitting on floor or chair or lying in bed.

Hi, My doctor started me on 75mg daily.  That is usually the dose you are given to start with, to let your body get used to it.

Mine was increased to 150mg after 3 months.  Yes ask you doctor.  Say you are now ready for a higher dose.  Like spikerusty, I live in the UK.

75mg's a relative low dose as the options for increase depend significantly upon where in the world you live. I'm on 375mg which is max in the UK. Speak with your GP or psych about what you would like to do as i'm sure that they'd support you with what you may want.

You should feel comfortable discussing it with your doctor. They will let you know their opinion and what they feel is best for you. I am glad the medication is working for you!
